" none of us has died yet "
by prologos inthis phrase made me perk up my ear for a moment during this week's video demonstration.
this "follow-up remark was to the "householder's" affirmation that we do not know what happens at death.
religions use scare tactics to keep members captive, so is this a hook wt introduces early?

It does appear to be a fear inducing way to grab the attention of a householder. People fear death and what might be an afterlife in Hell. As for being a "hook" I cannot confirm. I've missed too many meetings to know if this has been used in a KH presentation. However, I would put nothing past the creeps who write this stuff. -

Women in this Org are looking for a Father Figure
by xjwsrock inthis is a rant mainly in response to my wife's reaction to the stupid clam meeting last night.
bear in mind, while i am not sexist, i am also not politically correct.
.... it is no secret that the women in this organization outnumber the men.

This is so true! I have long been bewildered by women who are more interested in a relationship with this odious org than with their own husbands, children, and people around them. They really are filling a void of some sort. I remember seeing this with my own mother who had a horrible relationship with my dad and he was a JW! I think they maintain some fantasy of the perfect guy and assign that to God. Maybe they never shake the fantasy stories of the royal prince coming to take them to his kingdom. In my mothers eyes she had the perfect relationship with God, so if she had a problem with you than so did Jehober. If you disagreed with her than you disagreed with Jehober. There is no reasoning with people like that! And yes there are definitely brothers who think this way too. Between their inflated egos, fear, and brainwashing they cant come to terms with reality. -

Driving Force, that's quite a conversation! I think u may have woken up your friend or planted a seed. And hey, I didn't even know the Borg bought shares in porn industry and weapons?! I think I'd like those docs for my personal collection. Got a link for that? -

New boy, I have been gobbling up these bethel stories. I don't want them to end! Several close friends and family of mine are/were in bethel. People don't always share their stories, but when they do I am never disappointed. Please tell me you have a part 8.

Watchtowers policy of shunning our own close relatives
by Truthexplorer inhaving looked over the february' 2016 wt study article ' learn from jehovah's loyal servants' and meditating on the 'advice' from the fds aka gb regarding the shunning of our own close relatives if they have been disfellowshipped.
the example in par 7 highlighting how a woman called anne shuns her own mother for 'as she says' cutting herself off from jehovah.
i can't help but wonder how audacious and wreckless watchtower is in writing this stuff.

You would think these fear tactics would grow stale with the r&f. Shun your mother? What parents want their children thinking this is divine guidance from God? Sickening. -

The story of my exit
by mrsObfuscate ini have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.
i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .
my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.

Welcome Mrs Obfuscate! I enjoyed reading your personal story very much. My favorite part was when you found ttatt and enrolled in University. Also, thanks for that direct ARC link.

Rivalry among the sisters
by Esmeralda001 inwhen i was first introduced to the "truth", i was so distracted by the love and affection that the members were showing me that i was ready to convert into the religion without thinking twice.
i was conviced that jws were god's people (i still think some of them are).
i made it my goal to get baptized as i wanted to be part of the "only" religion that produce such good people.

With "friends" like the sisters in the KH, who needs enemies, right? I quit playing their games long ago. Gave up on that whole mess. I've never been super close with the sisters as I could see it was all a game early on. Ask any Bethelite about the older sisters at Bethel. You know, the wives of the "lifers". They have their own category of meanness altogether. Lol.
Good for you on wearing your MK stuff. I like Mk brand too. He makes an amazing wedge and his saffiano leather bags last a lifetime. If any sister is hassling you over your clothes, consider it a compliment as they most likely are jealous:-).

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year too!
Isn't it crazy what we go through to gain the freedom to say that? This year I'm doing as much as I can to bring the joy of the season to my husband without tripping his jdubb meter. So far, so good.

The KEY WORD in Isaiah 44:25-26 is "Predictions" and the apostles NEVER made any predictions setting dates.
by Greybeard inisaiah 44:25-26, i am frustrating the signs of the empty talkers, and i am the one who makes diviners act like fools; the one confounding the wise men and turning their knowledge into foolishness; the one making the word of his servant come true and completely fulfilling the predictions of his messengers.
the record shows your words and many predictions did not come true.
again, the key word in isaiah 44:25-26 is "predictions" and the apostles never made any predictions ever.

Greybeard, thank you! I have a private journal that I keep specifically to record anything that I find incriminating about the WT. This info went into it. Whenever I start to doubt my distrust of the Org, all I have to do is pull out my journal and the evidence is blatant. Thanks again.
