Here's my exegisis on the matter: God said it. I believe it. That settles it.
I used to see those bumper stickers and feel sorry for those people for not listening to the Watchtower. Now, it pretty well sums up my position: Believe God first.

WASHINGTON – Nine out of the ten countries ranked the most oppressive for Christians to live in were due to Islamic extremism, according to Open Doors' annual World Watch List, which was released Wednesday.
With the exception of North Korea – ranked No. 1 for the 12th year in a row – every other country on the top 10 list had as its source of persecution, Islamic extremism.
they were a hoot weren't they?.
I have many fond memories of the weekly skating parties. Especially "couples skate!" I can't hear Nights in White Satin"
Yep! I can remember skating to "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd like it was last week.
they were a hoot weren't they?.
Yes, holding hands during a couples skate could trigger the endocrine system to literally dump endorphins into the blood stream triggering smiles and "unwholesome" god-dishonoring expressions of well-being. In other words....it was fun. One of he GB must have viewed just such a display of joy while the DJ played "Physical" by Olivia Newton John ..... and then it was all over:
km 9/95 p. 2 Do All Things for God’s Glory ***
It has been reported that large numbers of Witnesses have gathered at rented facilities where the entertainment is unwholesome and worldly and where proper supervision is lacking. Similar activities advertised as a "Jehovah’s Witness" weekend have been held at hotels or resorts. Because of the difficulty in properly supervising such large groups, problems have developed. Rowdiness, overindulgence in alcoholic beverages, and even immorality have sometimes resulted. (Eph. 5:3, 4) Social gatherings where such conduct occurs do not honor Jehovah. Rather, they bring reproach upon the good name of the congregation and stumble others.—1 Cor. 10:23, 24, 2
when i was a kid in the early 90's there always seemed to be a mention of how demons posessing people or how if you saw a demon or something supernatural occuring mearly calling jehovah's name would rid you of the situation.
rarely now a days do you hear anything of the sort.
that got me to thinking, what are some other topics the society has backed off of?
Railing on publishers with two-door cars has subsided somewhat but rejecting the New Covenant for forgiveness of sins is still in vogue.
they were a hoot weren't they?.
They were a hoot weren't they?
so while i was out hiking with the dogs today i got to thinking about this forum and was wondering how many of you still feel guilty from time to time for leaving?
i do, i miss my family at times but then i think about the life that i have created and i have a good one, i have good friends and i am happy, happier then i ever was as a jw.
i was just wondering if others feel the same way sometimes..
No. Instead of guilt, I feel VICTORIOUS.
" no one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.".
now that the 8 most important men on earth, the governing body, have been revealed as the faithful and discreet slave, to whom all the masters.
belongings have been given, now that the most important news of the the 21st century has been brought to light, it is time for the world to be informed.. therefore, 2014 will become the year in which all world leaders will be informed that to survive, and to help the people of their respective nations to survive,.
No, they officially haven't been given the Master's belongings yet, but they have informed Jehovah that, that IS the appropriate thing for him to do.
did you have any favourite books by the society when you were in ?not that this book was my fav.
yet it was the first book i read learning about jw`s.
" from paradise lost to paradise regained " i know , it was designed for the young , however my mentor thought that since i had no understaning of the bible it was what i needed.
I read the Red Babylon book cover to cover when I was 19 years old. It was grueling, but I did it. I felt so proud of myself because I knew no one else could get through it in one sitting.
well 2013 is behind me and i'm pleased that it is done and dusted.
it was a hard one, filled with doubt, fear, pain and horribleness.
i was very fortunate to get out of that horrid job and get back into advertising with the fever.
Yes, rest is important and does wonders. Glad you're feeling better.
