"True Story" - movie about Christian Longo
by OrphanCrow ini just watched "true story" on netflix.. http://www.truestorymovie.com/.
disturbing.
it is about the relationship between christian longo and the journalist, mike finkel, who wrote a book about londo's murder of his family.. a person has to wonder about how dangerous it is to plant the notion of the dead being resurrected into the mind of a narcissist.

Only God himself had no beginning. He alone is unique in that regard, existing completely outside of time, yet able to transcend time at will. Time was just another invention of his. -

Oh, we have a beginning alright, just no end. Imagine being without a body, in total darkness for eternity, separated from God and anything that could be called good.
We were made for a purpose, and that is to be able to comprehend God and much of his creations, and to enjoy him and fellowship with him forever. This characteristic of the construction of man was necessary since God is eternal.

I doubt many JW's believe they would be resurrected after doing much less that that nut case did. The real problem with JW teachings is the unbiblical teaching that your consciousness will cease upon death.
None of us will ever be able to stop being conscious. It will go on forever and ever and ever and ever. God even let's us choose where we will spend eternity, depending on what we do with Jesus.
The simply fact is that we were made in the image of an eternal being. Our consciousness is eternal, and there is nothing either you or I or anyone else in the universe can do about it.
There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in tormentsFor unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

No Sports Cars Please!
by snugglebunny ini read on a jw forum that jw's came in for disapproval if they drove either sports cars or 2-door cars.
the reasoning was that a driver couldn't easily take fellow dubbies out preaching in such a vehicle.
was that ever official policy or just local nonsense from a grumpy po?.

If you didn't buy a 4-door car you were talked about in the congregation rumor mill and tagged as selfish and materialistic.
I once wanted to buy a performance car and a good field service car. So I bought a Jaguar XJ-7 Monarch. I think I still got "labeled selfish and materialistic" but had no trouble filling the car for "return visits".

First Entry for Jehovah's Witnesses on Google
by compound complex inhttp://whyimcatholic.com/index.php/conversion-stories/jehovah-witness-converts/125-jehovahs-witness-convert-lou-everett.
this story of a jehovah's witness who became catholic is at the top of the heap.
i was angered at what happened when he opened up and poured out his heart to a "caring" brother.. cc.

I never understood why people leave a shitty religious organisation, to fall directly in the arms of another organisation
Well, I think it is quite easy to understand. When faced with the ridiculousness of materialism to account for things like DNA, spontaneous generation, fine tuning of the universe etc, many people simply look for ways to try harder to earn God's approval.
The absolute last thing that anyone would want to try is actually trusting a King who rode into town on an ass, to take your personal punishment due YOU. Unless of course they had tried everything else first, which is what happened to me.
Badda Bing! Religion not necessary, just Jesus.

I'm ready to get my first Powerball ticket -- NOT!
by FatFreek 2005 init's up to some 800 zillion dollars now and hasn't suckered me in yet.
i've been out of watchtower for some 38 years now and i suppose the lottery is one of their nonoze.
i have nothing morally wrong against it or anyone who enjoys doing it.

The United States Powerball did not produce a winner last night. Next drawing will be this coming Wednesday with an All-Time Jackpot high of 1.3 Billion Dollars.
That is some serious Jack!
I am not quite sure why some of the Materialists on this forum are not excited. I mean they have bet their whole life on far, far greater odds:
Harold Morowitz, a Yale University physicist, has made a more realistic estimate for spontaneous generation. Morowitz imagined a broth of living bacteria that were super-heated so that all the complex chemicals were broken down into their basic building blocks. After cooling the mixture, he concluded that the odds of a single bacterium re-assembling by chance are one in 10 to the 100 billionth power.... To put this number into perspective, it is more likely that you and your entire extended family would win the state lottery every week for a million years than for a bacterium to form by chance.
If you are willing to bet your life on such odds, why not invest heavily playing a game with only a few dollars that have a far greater chance of happening?
Here's the safest bet of what is going on:
Romans 1:18 says, "God is revealed from heaven against all....men who suppress the truth...because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them...they...exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for... birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures." Romans 1:18 & 19
Quite a prophecy about evolution and Materialists! What are the odds of that?

Governing Body Letter details things that "have never been done before." - Really?
by cappytan in[note: copy/pasted this with permission from reddit.].
once each year, the governing body writes a direct letter to the congregation members included in the yearbook.
in his annual message to the catholic faithful (urbi et orbi) delivered on christmas day, the pope spoke about world peace, terrorism, and the refugee crisis.

Well put.
I don't really understand why doing things "never done before" would attract the faithful. God made it clear that:
though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Gal. 1: 8
The Watchtower has been doing things, and teaching things "never before done" since its inception. The gospel of:
1. Jesus not being your Mediator
2. Only the 144K Jews in Revelation are justified
3. The blood covenant isn't for "whosoever will"
.... are all things "never before done".
What's so cool about being cursed by the Author of Life?

A Christmas tree, and a Word of Appreciation
by Wonderment ini am looking right now at my 10 footer christmas tree.
is "wonderment" celebrating christmas?
i am not one of those individuals who dropped the wt agenda years ago to hop on the first bandwagon of worldly attractions to cross my path.

Just thought this explains what all the excitement is about. I never "got it" as a JW.
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." —Matthew 1:23
His Birth and Our New Birth
His Birth in History. “…that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35). Jesus Christ was born into this world, not from it. He did not emerge out of history; He came into history from the outside. Jesus Christ is not the best human being the human race can boast of— He is a Being for whom the human race can take no credit at all. He is not man becoming God, but God Incarnate— God coming into human flesh from outside it. His life is the highest and the holiest entering through the most humble of doors. Our Lord’s birth was an advent— the appearance of God in human form.
His Birth in Me. “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you…” (Galatians 4:19). Just as our Lord came into human history from outside it, He must also come into me from outside. Have I allowed my personal human life to become a “Bethlehem” for the Son of God? I cannot enter the realm of the kingdom of God unless I am born again from above by a birth totally unlike physical birth. “You must be born again” (John 3:7). This is not a command, but a fact based on the authority of God.

Promise:
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. - Micah 5:2 (Only God id from eternity past)
Delivered:
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
- Luke 2:11-14
It is my frequent prayer that people accept the peace that God offers through Jesus.
Merry Christmas !!!!!

Village Idiot,
Here is the quote that I posted:
Schweitzer and her team also tested for the presence of DNA within the cellular structures, using an antibody that only binds to the “backbone” of DNA. The antibody reacted to small amounts of material within the “cells” of both the T. rex and the B. canadensis. To rule out the presence of microbes, they used an antibody that binds histone proteins, which bind tightly to the DNA of everything except microbes, and got another positive result. They then ran two other histochemical stains which fluoresce when they attach to DNA molecules. Those tests were also positive. These data strongly suggest that the DNA is original.
ArticleYou can click the blue lettered word and the end of the quotation and easily check that this is from the North Carolina University website and is quoted verbatim. But, how can this be since DNA has only a half life of 521 Years?
There are dozens of scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals documenting such facts that, if any one of the hundreds of such things is true, then Darwinism falls flat as a failure.
There are countless other lines of evidence that falsify, or at least cast serious doubt on the theory; not the least of which is the discovery of DNA. When this was discovered in the 1950's, that should have been the end of Darwin.
Consider the odds of this:
If you have a series of ten flash cards, numbered from one to ten, and these are thoroughly and randomly mixed, and then laid out successively in a linear array along the table, it would be extremely unlikely that the numbers would fall out in order from one to ten. Actually, there are 3,628,800 different ways in which these numbers could be arranged, so that the "probability" of this particular ordered arrangement is only one in 3,628,800. (This number is "ten factorial," written as 10!, and can be calculated simply by multiplying together all the numbers from one to ten.)
It is obvious that the probability of such a numerically ordered arrangement decreases rapidly as the number of components increases. For any linear system of 100 components in specified order, the probability is ...one chance in 10 to the 158th (a number represented by "one followed by 158 zeroes").
A system requiring such a high degree of order could never happen by chance. This follows from the fact that probability theory only applies to systems with a finite possibility of occurring at least once in the universe, and it would be inconceivable that 10 to the 158th different trials could ever be made in our entire space-time universe.
Astro-physicists estimate that there are no more than 10 to the 80th infinitesimal "particles" in the universe, and that the age of the universe in its present form is no greater than 1018 seconds (30 billion years).Assuming each particle can participate in a thousand billion (10 to the 12th) different events every second (this is impossibly high, of course), then the greatest number of events that could ever happen (or trials that could ever be made) in all the universe throughout its entire history is only 1080 x 1018 x 1012, or 10110 (most authorities would make this figure much lower, about 10 to the 50th). Any event with a probability of less than one chance in 10110, therefore, cannot occur. Its probability becomes zero, at least in our known universe.
Thus, the above-suggested ordered arrangement of 100 components has a zero probability. It could neverhappen by chance. Since every single living cell is infinitely more complex and ordered than this, it is impossible that even the simplest form of life could ever have originated by chance. Even the simplest replicating protein molecule that could be imagined has been shown by Golay1 to have a probability of one in 10 to the 450th. Salisbury calculates the probability of a typical DNA chain to be one in 10 to 600 power. In other words, many more times the particles in the known universe are needed even to calculate the odds. Materialists that ignore and suppress the knowledge of God that he put inside of each human being would never run their lives according to such improbabilities and mental gymnastics in less important and mundane matters. For instance, after trying just a few times, most of us stopped trying to find the end of the rainbow as children. This is a normal development in children. We learn to pursue reality very early.
We also learn that God's moral law, and even our own innate sense of right and wrong is equally an impossibility to perfectly adhere to. So, many of us seek out cults that give us a false sense of accomplishment from our efforts at being good. Or, others seek to suppress the knowledge of God and attempt to find safety in neurosis.
However, sin in any form is not our FRIEND. We have but one true friend in this world. His name is Jesus. And he loves each of us very, very much. If we trust him alone, he promises that will have the victory in everything.
