Keep up the good work Perry. Don't let them grind you down.
I'm just making a simple point James. I like simple things. The Watchtower makes things so complicated ... so that people will hopefully keep going to them for an explanation.
the watchtower (and old-timers in the org) love to quote old testament passages that were directed toward israel.
however, the new testament is "a better covenant based upon better promises".. in the following verses, salvation is not described as a possibility, but as a certainty, as a present possession for the original christians:.

This thread is primarily about Salvation and whether or not works are involved as the WT maintains, or if it is a FREE gift.
Salvation Cannot Be by Works and God's Grace
“NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). This Bible verse makes it plain and simple that good works will not save anyone. Listen to the message of Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.” How many Scriptures does God need to put in front of our face before we get the idea—salvation is not by merit. “Knowing that a man is NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and NOT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW: for BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW SHALL NO FLESH BE JUSTIFIED” (Galatians 2:16).
God's intention is that he be the sole Savior. This is not something that he allows a person to participate in AT ALL. THIS IS THE OBJECT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH. And then, just to make sure no one misunderstands, He lets people know that their efforts to justify themselves by works only brings MORE DEBT, not deliverance. How did we miss this as JW's?
FOR WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS COUNTED UNTO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS. NOW TO HIM THAT WORKETH IS THE REWARD NOT RECKONED OF GRACE, BUT OF DEBT. BUT TO HIM THAT WORKETH NOT, BUT BELIEVETH ON HIM THAT JUSTIFIETH THE UNGODLY, HIS FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Romand 4: 3-5

Shirley,
Born Again Christians have historically been the most generous people on earth. I personally consider it a duty to try and help others the best I can. When I put together a business model for my current company I am running, I incorporated a significate profit percentage donation for each job to charity. I support a Ukranian charity dedicated to helping orphans. We build additions onto houses so that orphans can be integrated into real homes and not institutionalized by the state-run orphanages. In those facilities, the kids are turned out on their own at age 16, where many if not most are picked up by the sex and drug trades and exported around the world.
My God IS DOING SOMETHING in the world through the people he inhabits. When he returns, dramatic changes will take place sociologically and in nature, directly by him. Until then, Christians do as they have been instructed and leave the rest up to Christ.

Hey perry? If the wages sin lays is death....meaning im a sinner and i die...once i die are my sins wiped?
Hi Jon Preston,
It only works that way in the pages of the Watchtower. The biblical meaning of death is "separation". When your soul and spirit have been separated from your body....YOU ARE CONSIDERED DEAD...... biblically.
What the watchtower teaches is anniliation. This is an unbiblical heresy.
In Revelation 6: 9 "dead" souls are described in heaven speaking, feeling, and thinking.
Hebrews 9: 27 assures us that judgment awaits ALL mankind AFTER THEY DIE.
If a person rejects the blood of Jesus as a substitute for his own coming "separation penalty" for his sins; then once that separation of body/soul has occured, there is no legal way to get him back into his body for a "do-over". There are no additional opportunities to choose life once the death separation has occurred since the penalty itself prohibts rehabitation of the body. Our destiny is related to the "things done while in the body".
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. - 2 Cor. 5:10
For the believer, the things done while in the body will effect his rewards in heaven (crowns), but not his salvation, since we are declared righteous by faith/belief, and not by works. For the unbeliever, it is very different. His salvation is on the line for not choosing life "while in the body".
what do you do when you believe in your heart that your spouse is never going to wake up to the tatt?
when you're sick of the cherade of pretending you can deal with the spiritual division when you dont think you can anymore.
when you're convinced that your spouse is so decieved she is lost in a desert and is fine with living by the mirage.
Absolutely! It worked on my adult son. I baptized him 2 months ago after asking Jesus to remove him from this cult.
Jesus advises "Come to me" (not Jehovah) all who are loaded down, and I will give you rest
what kind of god are you looking for?.
the one i want to hire has to fill these requirements:.
1. kind to a fault without being a namby-pampy hippy.
I hired Jesus. He has the power of life and death... and he proved it. I like life, and the many interesting things he created. Death doesn't interest me. He is humble and kind and generous. Life with Jesus is very doable, regardless of circumstances. That is also appealing to me because I like victory.
revelation, chapter 1, 4: john to the seven churches which are in asia: grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven spirits which are before his throne;.
revelation, chapter 3, 1: and unto the angel of the church in sardis write; these things saith he that hath the seven spirits of god, and the seven stars; i know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
revelation, chapter 4, 5: and out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of god.
Please go on Stephen.

What do you do?
All I know is what worked for me when I came to the end of myself.
Stop trying to do everything on your own power. Try Jesus ALONE. Ask him to work it out:
...without me, ye can do nothing. - John 15:5

The wages of sin is death. God spoke it , it is law.... period. Sounds pretty final doesn't it? It is not. God gave his highest posession so that the death penalty could be deferred.
See John 3: 16
My point is that the Bible presents this as a gift.... not something to work for as the WT teaches.
