The Deadly Winter of 2028/29

november 2028: the prime minister has announced that all but emergency travel is forbidden due to the dangers of the very cold weather, as predicted by imperial college london computer models.

January 2029: The government has now issued new directives under the 2028 Brass Monkey Weather Act which require that all government & NHS employees must wear the protective duffel coat, or face being dismissed. Also, no travel beyond 5 miles from home is permitted unless the duffel coat is worn.
February 2029: Office for National Statistics figures show that 13,200 deaths per week have been recorded since the cold weather began. This figure is far greater than the annual UK average which is 13,203.
80% of the deceased were recorded as non-duffel coat wearers due to their body temperature being less than 1 degree Celsius at time of death.
March 2029: Despite the cold weather having greatly eased, people are still dying, though in lesser numbers. Of concern is the number of younger duffel coat wearers who are still dying, but not from the cold.
This phenomena is termed, Obscure Health Syndrome Hazard Involving Trauma. (OHSHIT)
April 2029: Duffel coat manufacturers have advised the government that their product will only protect against the cold for a limited time. As such, they are recommending that people are given a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th duffel coat to wear every 3-6 months.
Critics of the duffel coat scheme who refused to wear them, have been told that wearing the duffel coats had almost certainly saved hundreds of thousands lives.
Anti-duffel coat wearers insist that their own clothing provided them with a tried & tested, safer, and more effective insulation.
Various government officials and advisors who were found to have ignored the rules regarding duffel coats, have been given a stern talking to.

Mark of a true Christian
by Lost in the fog inas most of us on this site have experienced firsthand when we were in, there is a lack of love in the majority of congregations.. i was talking to a pimi person recently who said that love was the identifying mark of true christians (in their opinion the jw organisation) and that is why the watchtowers they study continually tell them to show love to one another.. i said that if their love was genuinely practiced they wouldn't need to be told to show it because it would arise from their heart and soul and be evident in believers which is what jesus was actually saying.
recognising the needs of the community with rising food prices some local churches where i live were moved to start food banks and offer free meals to families on the breadline.
to me that is spontaneously shown and is genuine love in action.. needless to say the pimi disagreed with me.

In my last Ministry School talk, I illustrated how gold had a hallmark to prove that it was genuine and then asked the question, "What is the hallmark of a genuine Christian - is it preaching the good news?"
I then encouraged the audience to read along with John 13:35. After the meeting finished, a brother (ex-elder) told me that he thought I was wrong in what I'd said in my talk!

If you can't offer any defense/proof for your belief that the 'faithful slave' was selected from a bunch of JW's in the USA in 1919, then you are not being honest with yourself.

Hi Godbeliever, your response was lengthy, but still you refuse to answer a simple question with a factual answer: What extraordinary proof shows that God/Jesus selected the Bible Students to be the "faithful slave."
Being persecuted is not a sign of divine selection. Jews have been persecuted throughout the world for centuries - but more so in the 20th century. Come back with divine evidence.

Since "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof," what extraordinary evidence convinced you personally that the "faithful slave" of JW's was chosen by Jesus, rather than the LDS 12 Apostles, Archbishop of Canterbury, or the Pope?
If any other active JW's wants to provide the proof, I'm only too willing to listen/discuss.

Since "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof," I'd like to ask you what extraordinary evidence convinced you personally that the "faithful slave" of JW's was chosen by Jesus, rather than the LDS 12 Apostles, Archbishop of Canterbury, or the Pope?

@ Godbeliever: You're right - Constantine hijacked Christianity for political expediency and privatised it. Along came Martin Luther, and Christianity was put on the open market for every Tom, Dick, & Harry speculator who wanted to board the gravy train.
Christianity became tribal, creating disdain, resentment, & even hatred among Christians worldwide. Prime example, Ireland. Every "tribe" claims to have the truth.
