the court found the newspaper has been fed false information by an association of disgruntled former witnesses and has uncritically published it.. .

Why do Catholics pray to Mary/saints?

a very good friend of many years told me that he prays to mary and makes requests.

i didn't try to discuss/debate the subject - his choice - but wondered how catholics would view these scriptures: .

This Generation/ 1975

i was born in 1977 & came in as a convert in 2003 --- so i have no idea what went on before my time.. however i have been familiar with the scriptures of "nobody knows the day or hour" & " it will come as a theif in the night" meaning that it was sure but unpredictable time.

how could anyone belive that anyone else ( organization or not) put a date on it?.

also what was the significance of 1975 anyway?

@ TxNVSue2023 - Most of us here thought the same as you - that the "slave's" interpretation of Matthew 24 had a "greater fulfilment" for our time.

Regarding the great tribulation at Matthew 24:21, Jesus said "....no, nor will occur again".

How can something which Jesus said would never be repeated, possibly have a greater fulfillment?

Which part of "never" is too difficult for the G.B. to understand?

Jesus also said, "Truly I say to you that this (not "that") generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen. (Matthew 24:34)

The generation he was speaking of did see all these things occur, and then the "end" did come in - 70 C.E.

But the "slave" was quick to stop every JW doing the worldwide preaching work for many months because ~~the governments would penalise them~~ there was a flu-like virus going around.

I had to create an illustration for a former non-JW workmate to show how huge this was going to be for JW's.

We worked together in a factory for years, so I asked him, "If the management suddenly announced that none of the hourly-paid workers had to clock in or out from now on, how do you think the workforce would react?"

I'm convinced the org will be forced into making further changes/announcements over the next 6 - 12 months when the effects of this "new light" really kick in.

"and for company publishers he [jesus] says, ’let us make a quota of 60 hours and 12 back-calls and at least one study a week for each publisher.’ these directions come to us from the lord through his established agency directing what is required of us; and, for those who really love the lord and are guided by his counsel, that is a reasonable service requirement.

this expression of the lord’s will should be the end of all controversy.
