by Vanderhoven7 inwe brainstormed a while back on this forum and pooled our knowledge on how to recognize false religion.
i think the list is worth reviewing and adding to if possible.
please feel free to correct and or add insights of your own to this list:.

@ Godbeliever, you said, "I believe the faithful slave that was chosen by Jesus at his second coming in heaven."
I asked you this question, but you didn't give an answer:
Since "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof," what extraordinary evidence convinced you personally that the "faithful slave" of JW's was chosen by Jesus, rather than the LDS 12 Apostles, Archbishop of Canterbury, or the Pope?
If any other active JW's wants to provide the proof, I'm only too willing to listen/discuss.

@ Godbeliever: You're right - Constantine hijacked Christianity for political expediency and privatised it. Along came Martin Luther, and Christianity was put on the open market for every Tom, Dick, & Harry speculator who wanted to board the gravy train.
Christianity became tribal, creating disdain, resentment, & even hatred among Christians worldwide. Prime example, Ireland. Every "tribe" claims to have the truth.

Help please.
by lastmanstanding inrecently, in the past few months, and this only applies to in dubs who might have taken note, the watchtower study edition made a change.
it mentioned the “warning work” where dubs are going to march around and proclaim everyone is going to die.. anyway, this article said it was now only a possibility, not a sure thing.. i can’t find it.
did watchtology change it already?.

@ Lastmanstanding:
w76 2/15 p. 111 God Wants People to Live - "However, one thing is certain: Each day that passes brings billions of people closer to death."
w89 9/1 p. 19 par. 7 Remaining Organized for Survival Into the Millennium - "Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the “great crowd,” as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil."
More than 7.5 billion people on planet earth are soon to be toast!

At the weekend, I showed the article's quote to a zealous JW.
First reaction - "No, that's not what it's saying." Second reaction - "No, it's just badly worded."
Cognitive dissonance at its best.

Which Bible Translation.....
by BoogerMan in....is the best, in your opinion?.
out of the numerous translations i've had/used, i can honestly state that the 2001 translation is head & shoulders above all the others i've ever consulted, imo.
the publishers even invite suggestions/corrections to be submitted.

@ iloowy.goowy, I'm still waiting to hear your erudite understanding of the process of translation by the NASB., concerning the scriptural examples in 1 Peter 3:2,15 I provided you with.
You are imitating the tactics which JW's use when cornered - ignore the question asked, and then use any means/asinine assertions to divert attention away from your inability to respond to the troublesome topic.
Answer the question using reason & facts, but for goodness sake, give up the school-yard name-calling, it's pathetic. The topic was submitted in the FRIENDS section!

@ dropoff yourkeylee - according to Strong's Concordance, the definition used is accurate.
σταυρός staurós, stow-ros'; from the base of G2476; a stake or post (as set upright), i.e. (specially), a pole or cross (as an instrument of capital punishment);
Ultimately, whether or not a patibulum was added to the stake/post/pole upon which Christ was impaled, is not mentioned in the scriptures, nor is it of any importance concerning the Christian belief in Christ's sacrifice.
The topic is perversely elevated to a status of great importance & reverence, to cause animosity/division between certain 'tribes' within Christian denominations - nothing less.

If you're going to attack & disparage people who simply express an opinion/choice on this forum, maybe you should go away and address some of your personality issues - then come back and talk decently to folks.

iloowy.goowy - your superior knowledge and skills in the Greek language are clearly evident for everyone to see, ol' chap! Not to mention, your interpersonal prowess.
You emulate the JW mentality - when you can't/won't answer a direct statement or fact, just attack the person.
Don't you understand the process of discussion? No, I guess not.
This is how it works: Someone asks a question/makes a statement, the other person responds to the point made.
Please respond once you have compared the NASB translation of 1 Peter 3:2,15. It's not difficult.
