Please be sure to remind your mom that if she decides to stay home from the meeting and listen in via telephone, she must get dressed as if she is going to attend in person. Her loving Bros and Sisters can't bear to think of her listening or (Gasp!) commenting in a robe and slippers.

Jehovah's Witnesses Are Clueless!
by minimus ini really don't think they get it.. they have their blinders on and just won't think about anything that could possibly make them question anything.. they are like stepford families and robots.
they do as they're told while they have that dense look on their faces.. ok, that's my vent for the moment.. .

My first cigar
by LivingTheDream inmy first cigar.
not soon after i faded, i was on a company shindig and they were providing hand rolled cigars to everybody there.
i watched in amazement as this dominican guy rolled them in front of my eyes with great care and skill.

Hey LTD
Sorry the feed here took some time to refresh. When I was in my teens I worked at a Country Club where all the old waitresses where either smoking or looking to get laid by the busboys. Since the latter was out of the question, I tried smoking cig's but really didn't like them that much.
Even today I'll have a cig every now and again but really don't enjoy it. So much for demon control.
So probably a year or so into my fade I tried a cigar. Probably some really $hitty brand. Smoked it in the truck on the interstate, windows rolled down so the cab wouldn't smell like smoke. Ate an entire pack of gum before I got home. This went on for awhile.
Finally after some research I concluded that as many of the above have stated, Dominicans and the occasional Cubans are the best. Don't waste your time on any other lighter but Xikar. I bought a Lotus that died in six months. Be sure to refill said lighter with only Colibri butane. DO NOT waste your time with the Zippo Blue lighters. My daughter bought me a Lotus cigar cutter for my Bday. Works great!!
So flash forward to the present day... every now and again the missus comes out to the back deck and has a puff or two of the old man's cigar. (no pun intended to you filthy minds out there) Life can be good after the Wits.
All my best to you and yours

Please Share one of your Favourite Quotations
by cofty inhave you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

Ahhh bliss...
I went crazy with the cigars after fading. Now maybe 3 /4 times a year. Nothing like an adult beverage, scotch, bourbon or my favorite The Tyrconnell single malt Irish Whiskey. A tip o' the hat to my grandpa. My current fav's are pretty much anything by Romeo y Julieta or Upmann. If you live anywhere close to an Indian Casino they are pretty reasonable as are even more upscale brands like Cohiba etc.
A cool summer evening. A candle on the back deck. Pandora's cool jazz station. You don't need to go through the big A to enjoy paradise.
Happy Fade and Happy Smoking

Hi Oogie and Welcome
Your suspicions are well founded. I was born in and it took me well into my forties to break the spell as it were.
You will find here a community of thoughtful and caring people who can guide you through to a better place.
My best to you, your little ones and your hubby who will no doubt wake up.

The Revelation Book, Superheroes and Alanis Morisette (The title that was meant to be)
by ctrwtf inprops to raypublisher for starting a thread in "beliefs" re the revelation book.
i didn't want to hijack it because my remembrance of this tome of wisdom has not so much to do with specific content.
rather, thinking about the revelation book brought about a flashback of having to conduct the book study.. it's hard to describe the feeling of remorse and sense of time wasted in the borg.

It's hard to describe the feeling of remorse and sense of time wasted in the Borg. But remembering conducting the BS, (isn't that a coincidence) brings about what is commonly known today as the douche chills. After reading the utterly inane paragraph, you ask the question. What does the locust army represent? Silence.....................So what does the locust army represent? Finally someone would read the sentence that was just read and we could go on. Blecch!
Nevermind the fact that the so called locust army was the stinging message of the JW's In reality most people when asked today about the Jehovah's witnesses would ask, Jehovah's what? Some sting there. But I digress.
Now, I have two children. One a grown adult, 24 years old. Next I have a 13 yr old. They like to discuss, sometimes very enthusiasticallly, which is the better superhero? Batman or Superman? In said conversation, they may enumerate each characters powers, their background, their philosophy and emotional state. Usually Batman comes out on top. Sometimes this goes on for an hour or more. Everyone laughing and contributing, then it's time to wash the dishes. My point is that this discussion is as connected to reality as the Revelation book. And it's far more entertaining.
It's still hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that there are still people that believe this shit as if it were as real as the sun rising in the east. That there is a "loving god" that will kill you if you don't or can't see it his way.
So now on to Alanis Morisette. About the time I started to fade she released the song "Thank You"
It's lyrics are in part:
thank you india
thank you providence
thank you disillusionment
thank you nothingness
thank you clarity
thank you silence
the moment I let go of it was the moment I got more than I could handle
the moment I jumped off of it was the moment I touched down
Ten years into my fade these lyrics have more meaning than ever. Now I can think about what is really real in life. Like what a lame superhero is Aquaman? What does he do anyway?
Thanks for reading my ramblings. Peace to you and yours.

Help needed: JC standards/questions for "Drunkenness"
by respectful_observer ini'm hoping those of you in the jwn community may be able to help me out.
an acquaintance (of legal drinking age) may soon be sitting for jc under the charge of "drunkenness".. to those of you who have direct experience either serving on a jc, or being the subject of a jc related to the misuse of alcohol:.
- could you provide a list of questions that were asked of the accused?.

I sat on more JC's than I can count. Never one for drunkenness. At Bethel I scraped more people off the bathroom floor than I want to recall. Who did your friend piss off? This sounds personal. Have your friend try to ask without being offensive, "where is the proof?" Maybe it would be good for him to remind the elders that someone once said "he that is blameless cast the first stone."
