I sat on more JC's than I can count. Never one for drunkenness. At Bethel I scraped more people off the bathroom floor than I want to recall. Who did your friend piss off? This sounds personal. Have your friend try to ask without being offensive, "where is the proof?" Maybe it would be good for him to remind the elders that someone once said "he that is blameless cast the first stone."

I started fading probably 8 years ago. Completely inactive for 5 years now. Fortunately my entire family including the DW also has faded.
One thing that has been hard to erase however is praying before meals. Now I realize that for godly people everywhere this is a lifelong ritual. It is a symbol of humility before god and a sense of thankfulness for what is provided.. This is probably why it has taken so long for we, as a family to forego this custom. The kids, for years now been uncomfortable with it. The DW still clings to it, until this week when I was informed that it was no longer necessary for her. Yaaay!
For me, prayer before meals is somewhat of an excercise in superiority. "Thanks god for taking care of me while there are people in the inner city and elsewhere enjoying a top ramen or less. While I deserve all this goodness, these other people not so much." Plus, my journey has led me away from the belief in god. (Thanks WT) So from now on, if I pray, it will be thus:
Thanks Linda Greenlaw for the highly sustainable line caught swordfish. Thanks to my sister in-law (still in) for the delicious salsa recipe that adorns my swordfish taco. Thanks to the folks of PouillyFuse for the chardonnay that washed it all down. Thanks to my family, the funnest, best people in the world for the delightful company. And thanks to all of you for helping make this journey possible.

7/15 WT- Insane, Far Fetched, Narcissistic "New Light " about the FDS
by flipper ini know this article has been discussed, re-hashed upside down in past threads.
but there were at least 2 points i discovered in here that i felt were pertinent and important to bring out concerning the total control and narcissistic tendencies that these wt leaders possess on the governing body, i.e.
alleged " faithful slave " .

EVERYONE knows that when the sisters ascend to heaven they are spirit creatures who leave behind their vaginas, menstrual cramps and scatterbrained thinking.......I'm waiting for the fallout.
Seriously, this is the thinking of the wits as to why sisters are restricted here and not in heaven. Utter BS
Nice thread Mr Flipper

Zealous Witnesses who never had children and regret it now.
by MsGrowingGirl20 ini had two close friends in the org.
one is in her early thirties and got married last year and the other one is single and in her late twenties.
after reading coc, i couldn't help but feel sad at how ray and his wife felt regret at putting the religion first and not having any children.

This subject has always touched a nerve with me. Some time ago as a family we aere just having a normal evening. Cooking drinking laughing and playing cards. For some reason I looked at my two beautiful children and thought about the thousands of children never born because "woe be it to the pregnant woman." what sick and twisted BS. A wave of sadness overwashed me.
Now I wonder what loving god would dangle a carrot before people for 100's of years? Causing people to forego the best life can offer? Marriage, children and family. I thought god is postponing the end to save lives. What about all the lives never experienced? What utter nonsense!

Sorry about the double post. I'm away on business staying in a convention city. Had a witness citing at my hotel which is kind of surprising since it's a little upscale not the usual dump (read Quality Inn, Day's Inn, Clarion etc.) First couple I saw was retirement age, a little on the hefty side, badges in full view unloading their car. I caught a glimpse of their luggage which contained maybe half dozen bottles of wine. No doubt partying after 8 hours of mind numbing propaganda.
Couple number two I would bet were pioneers. Driving a rusted out Subaru station wagon. Both looked absolutely disgusted with each other as they harriedly unloaded their luggage. Did I mention that it was at least 100 degrees? Brother pioneer in spite of the heat was wearing a full very mussed looking suit. I know you get the picture after having attended a few conventions yourselves.
It reminded me though, that such outings are absolute bullshit. I remember vividly from the time I was a child that both my parents and siblings could hardly wait for the program to be over. All day long you'd sit in a hot overcrowded stadium in chairs that were meant for a three hour baseball game at most. At least at a ball game you could wear shorts and a T shirt and drink beer and eat hot dogs. At an assembly you got up a zero dark thirty and waited at the gate to save a seat that wasn't in the blazing sun, praying to a god that doesn't exist that hopefully no one would steal your seats.
Then, six hours later you could eat a lukewarm sandwich and walk aimlessly around for two hours "fellowshipping." The highlight of the afternoon would be a thunderstorm that would immediatley be followed by full sunshine rendering the entire venue a gigantic Turkish bath. No wonder the wits are raging alkies. After a day like that, I drank myself into oblivion on more than one occasion. Why why why?
The best part of the whole convention starts months before the actual date. You kill yourself to get to the TMS/Service Meeting in order to spend the entire evening being told how to make a hotel reservation and what to pack for lunch.
I was thinking about the couples I saw last night and was really feeling sorry for them. I was just like them once ago. Today I wonder how could I be so fooled. I wondered how many are putting themselves through such useless agony? Then I remembered a saying from my Dad. "If you're dumb you gotta be tough."

Jehovah Will Put it in Their Minds
by ctrwtf injust mulling over the demise of religion in general as we humans progress away from fear of the unknown.. i was wondering when some country or group will try to outlaw religion.

Just mulling over the demise of religion in general as we humans progress away from fear of the unknown.
I was wondering when some country or group will try to outlaw religion. Then I recalled how an all out attack on religion is what is supposed to trigger Armageddon. How unlikely is that? After 9/11 the first thing George Bush said was that Islam is not the problem, extremist terrorists are the problem. So basically even though a religious terrorist group kills 3000 American citizens, religion is not attacked. I fully realize that there are haters out there that are looking to bash Islam. But as a nation the U.S. is tolerant of all religious groups, as are most if not all developed countries.
So in order for the nations to attack religion, Jehovah will have to put it in their minds to do so. Do you remember hearing or reading that in the pages of the Watchtower? So if Jehovah is putting it in their minds to attack and brutally oppress all religions including the one true religion isn't he attacking religion himself? Morally and legally if I give another person the idea or will to brutalize another person I'm as accountable and guilty as the person who carried out the crime.
Once again, so much for the vindication of god's name. The god of the bible is a jerk

Atheism and the delusion of meaning
by Laika inin the movie annie hall, written by woody allen, as a young boy, alvy's mother, takes him to see a doctor as he appears to be dealing with some kind of depression.
when the doctor asks alvy what's up, alvy explains that he just found out the universe is expanding, everything will spread out and go cold and die, therefore nothing he does matters, so he is not going to do anything anymore.
most people might see this as a joke, but i think woody is trying to make a serious point.. the point here is about meaning.
