Qualcomm (formerly Padre) stadium sits slightly east of I-15 just far enough inland to be completely brutal. Anywhere along the coast or even downtown is perfect. Why can't they hold it at Cabrillo Park?

At first I thought you were SAYING that the SD convention rules, to which I would have to disagree heartily. It's aptly named SD because it sucks a bag of d*&ks!
Now when its 100 degrees and 80% humidity you can't even shade yourself? So the lamo behind you can see the numbnuts on the stage?
What would happen if you told the attendant or said lamo to F off? Sorry brother, I can't see the stage becasue your carting that elderly sister who is suffering from heat stroke up the aisle.
Baseball stadiums were meant for sitting for three hours max in a tanktop while you swill pints of cheap beer. Not to sit in a suit and tie for days on end listening to insufferable mindless propaganda.
For no other reason than the above I would abandon this moronic cult.

Categorizing people into "givers" or "takers" is pop psych BS. Do you really think your existence can be summed up so simplistically?

Anonymous Donation - Not!
by why144000 inmy mother in law (in her 80's) just told me that she had the elders around to pick up her 'donation' pledge.
it was 'suggested that $20 a month was the average amount pledged but she could pledge more or less.
so, rather than an anonymous amount they have a signed document stating the amount of her pledge.

Recently visited the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. For years they've been criticized for advertsising that it's free but asking for a "suggested donation." It's 25 bucks. Big deal. Well worth it. The point is, if you ask to get in for free you get the stink eye.
I'm sure its the same in the KH's. "I'm sorry I can't afford a red cent." "Reallly Bro poor beyond belief? Not even 20 bucks?"

Edit to add: actually heard F Franz at Watchtower Farms in the very early 80's and he was still blubbering about the Millions Now Living Will Never Die.
Guess what? Billions then living have died. What a loony a-hole. It reminds me of the film "There Will Be Blood." The scheister preacher bilking money from ignorant hillbillies. Even though Daniel Day-Lewis' character was a socio-path, he did the world a favor.

First Post - Emotionally Torn
by scaredtospeak ini haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.
i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .
i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

Dude.............choose your life. If you are studying biology you will quickly find that the story of Genesis is a myth at best. Everything else is window dressing. Props to you for not wanting to disappoint those close to you. That shows that you have a heart and love and care. However, the life of a JW denies all freedom of thought. It denies self esteem. It negates personal responsibility. It seems from your post that you are just beginning your life. If you desire to have a family of your own, ask yourself, do I want to raise my children with this level of misanthropy and guilt?
Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life...............

Forget the Pina and the Colada. Just drink Rum. My fondest memory is a drunken nap on Fajardo Beach in PR. A bottle of Bruzcal by my side.
Happy Birthday and many more!

Hello- new here
by Kikura inbeen lurking for a while on here and thought i'd jump in.
a great deal of many thoughtful posts on here but have to say am a bit turned off with the 'rabid apostate' ones!.
my history- was raised in a divided household, mum converted to jw when pregnant with me back in 1970, dad was never jw but was supportive of taking us to meetings, assemblies etc.

The fact that it's been so long since you've been active added to the fact that you still feel a need to attend even if only for the memorial is a testimony to the hold that this religion has on peoples freedom of thought. Any organization that is as manipulative and controlling is evil to the core.
Welcome..........................and may you find healing.
