Pros and Cons about Jehovah's Witnesses
by Leander inthe purpose of this post is to try take a close but un-biased look at whether or not jehovahs witnesses are the right religion.
in my few months of doing research about jw's outside of their own publications i've came across a wide variety of viewpoints.
some people are skeptical or unsure if the wts is really the right religion, some are certain that jw's are wrong but have no ill-feelings toward them, some individuals downright hate the organization and still others are certain that the wts is the real deal.

Yes, Yeru - to go along w/your point, if it is so effective, why is there only 1:1,300,000 in some parts of the world, and none in the majority of the muslim nations?

Pros:
Have to disagree w/the pro - they know their bible. If you honestly look at it, they only know their bible by what the Watchtower's interpretation of the bible is, in an honest one-on-one debate there are many sects that could do handstands around them all day long.
I grew up a JW, and don't believe I ever "read" the bible and discussed book for book. I remember studying the literature and using the bible for reference.

A New Breed Of JW Emerging?
by Englishman inis there a new breed of jw emerging, i wonder?.
i know that there are lots of real brainwashed dubs around who see demons behind every car boot sale item and who scuttle off to the elders with every bit of tittle-tattle imaginable, but, i think that there is a new type of dub who quietly does just as he / she pleases.. this is what i think: many of the long-serving jw's who have seen the 1975 failure and the 1914 generation change are now approaching old age with something of a jaundiced eye, and are choosing to do their own thing in their remaining years.
in conversations i am picking up it seems that the elders are being regarded somewhat derisively by many jw's.

As a child growing up w/the JW's, I can only "hypothosize" what I would "be like" as a parent of children now w/in the same organization. I am a very "moral" person who loves my family deeply but unconditionally. Had I remained a JW, I feel that I would be the same person I am now (except not having the benefit of seeking professional help). With that in mind, its not suprising to see a "softening". So many of the JW's that grew up horribly traumitized by what they were hearing, seeing & feeling will be raising their children much like me - not wanting their children to experience ANY of the same abuse, and watering down the "message" to make it easier for the children to stay on the straight & narrow (and allowing for occasional realistic slip-ups). As far as b-days, I never did see what the big deal was - how could it be wrong to celebrate the birth of your child, any more than the day of your marriage to your mate? It will be truly interesting to see where this religion goes in my lifetime....

The three reasons we leave the "Truth"
by sleepy inseems to me there are mainly three roads most of us have taken.
1.we did something "wrong" and were disfellowshipped and after felt able to look at the society in a different light.. 2.we didn't like the "truth" and were looking for a way out.. 3.we wanted it to be the truth but were overcome by the mountain of evidence against it.. which is the most common i wonder.. also do our motives play a large part in how we deal with information criticising the org.. without a reason to act information seems useless.. for instance if a person feels he has nothing to gain by leaving the org will he read different things into the same info as us?.
i think so and that all who leave must have a reason to do so, something to gain.. this does not make their reasoning wrong or prove they we are looking for just excuse.. but is a normal way in which humans deals with information.. two humans can have the same information but if they want or desire different things they may use the information differently.. maybe thats wht so many say "where else is there to go?

R10Million - is that american dollars? Bet those WTBTS boys are all over this one for 30%!!!! (and don't think he'll ever get out of a meeting w/o everyone pushing him into he collection box in the back!!!!.
Seriously though, I was not aware that JW's were allowed to make such suits as this - isn't it against their teachings?

To SCREAM or not to SCREAM???
by cyrano injw women have a greater need than jw men to stay ever vigilant and attentive of the watchtower's back and forth rules and regulations which they have the nerve to teach is "new light" from god.
if a jw woman is raped, she may actually face disfellowshipping from the body of elders who will interrogate her soon after the crime has occurred and will listen with the utmost attention to every little detail.
depending on the "new light" from the governing body, if she doesn't scream during a rape, she will be charged by the elders as an adulteress ... someone who may have actually 'enjoyed' the violent act because of her silence.
