  Told my JW Story at AA Meeting

  i was invited to be a guest speaker at the saturday night aa speaker's meeting.

  this meeting usually has a large crowd and they get somebody with longtime sobriety to come up and tell his story of "what i used to be like, what happened, and what i'm like now" as an example for others.

  i'll have eight years in january, so i guess that makes me fairly longtime.. i told them:.

  Actually no, I don't understand. Because I was intricately involved in some of those threads and the debate with Dragon regarding Silent Lambs

  You said

  can't really believe that the dragon has completely stopped posting because of what a few people on another forum want to accuse him of. He is much to caring of a person and certainly doesn't seem like the type to throw his toys down and refuse to play anymore. If some kids don't want to play fair then there are plenty of others around that do.

  As I was involved in those particular threads, I would have to deduct that I am one of those "few" people in which you were referring to. As I didn't mudsling or "attack" Dragon, but was attacked & mocked by him throughout his entire posts, I for one am slightly insulted by the tone of your post here.

  Hmmm. who would you say was the original seed in deception dept? You probably read a lot more then I did.

  It depends on which portions of course you are referring to. Regarding Silent Lambs, Dragon's posts were extremely cruel & insensitive towards alot of people. The original seed in deception dept. - I'm not sure what you mean by that....perhaps you could explain?

  The Story of Beans (Finally)

  my short journey out and now reunited with friends!

  in the beginning, my father was a pioneer in the province of quebec and in south western ontario and i always asked why these places and he said it was because the need was great in these regions, im sure it still is!

  my mother was in toronto pioneering and was sent here from germany to spread the word and was on her way back when she met dad the super pioneer.

  Beans - I know first hand how finding those "old friends" is so special, having recently had that wonderful experience myself. I can only hope that someday our group will all be together again too.

  I saw some of the debate over at TC's board. I saw a few debates and a lot of slamming and mudslinging/personal attacks but didn't see the part where kenpodraggon said he wasn't going to post on DBs anymore. Perhaps he meant "that" board.

  why would an omnipotent god need to become flesh in order to sacrifice himself to himself, so that his creations may escape the wrath of himself?

  Why would an omnipotent god have created man in his own image in the first place, give them the ability to think & reason for themselves, then get pissed off cuz they used it and allow mankind for 6000+ years suffer because of it?

  Persecution

  from what i have read i get the impression that jws have a persecution complex becasue others don't like what they preach.

  i would ask, "was jesus persecuting those in the temple when he upturned their tables, or was it a non-violent act against those who placed conditions on entering the kingdom?

  do i persecute (pursue) jws when i "upturn their tables" in their temples, or is it they who persecute (pursue/follow after) when going door to door, returning when unwelcome, and checking up on people to get the dirt on them?

  Excellent point - US JW's definitely have a "persecution complex" - trouble is they don't know what true persecution is. I think they have themselves so worked up with worry & fear for the future, that any sign of a "bump in the road" is a signal to them that the Great tribulation is upon them (and what JW isn't terrified of that?).

  i don't think any of this is really all that unusual so i'm sorry if you find it dull.

  i was raised in the jw cult from birth, a third generation member to boot.

  my family was full of elders, ministerial servants and overseers of all sorts.

  No, although apparently common, your story is not "boring" - it was your life - the good, the bad & the ugly - life is not boring. The pain of being raped is extremely difficult to live with, regardless of how it occurred.
