Ladies vs. REAL WOMEN
by Tatiana inladies - if you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in.
a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant "fix-me-up.".
real women - if you over-salt a dish while you are cooking, that's too damn bad.. please recite with me, the real women's motto: "i made it and you will eat it.

Bed wetting?
by got my forty homey? inany one in here who was raised as a jw ever have a problem with bed wetting growing up?
-

Yes, I had a severe bedwetting problem until almost the age of 12 - its was traumatic. Beatings, alarms, and numerous doctor appointments did nothing to alleviate the situation. The doctors said I was probably just a very deep sleeper, and would outgrow it - which I did. But I had a hard time socially with my little problem, and my mother (JW) made me feel so awful about it that I actually developed insomnia - not wanting to go to sleep to wet my bed and then be beaten in the morning because of it.
Then one day it just stopped - or did it?
Seriously though, my youngest son also has this condition - he is 7 years old and still has a problem with bedwetting. Course, he is autistic, so that might have something to do with it - there's just no way to know for sure.

Shotgun - if it's in your earthly ability to do so - do not allow your wife to drive a wedge between you and your child. My father said before he died that allowing my mother to raise us the way she did, and drive the wedge she did in between us was the biggest regret of his life. Happily, after leaving the JW's we were able to rectify that situation.
You do have rights as the head of the household - and you have the right to do with YOUR child as you see fit - regardless of what she says. Assert your rights and don't let her get away with this. Make sure you spend plenty of time with your child, so that as he/she grows older they will be able to see the untruthfulness.

Well, some of the bickering does appear normal for a couple that is going through such a stressful change, as the 2 of you are.
Some is very frustrating I know - especially if everything you tell her just becomes 1 more thing with which to run to the elders.
Patience is key I guess, but you also have rights as the "head of the household" - perhaps it's about time you started exercising some of them

THERAPY
20 Ways To Maintain A Healthy Level of Insanity
>
1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.
2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.
3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.
4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "In."
5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to Espresso.
6. In the memo field of all your checks, write "For sexual favors"
7. Finish all your sentences with "in accordance with the prophecy.
8. Don't use any punctuation
9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.
10. Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer.
11. Specify that your drive-through order is "To go."
12. Sing along at the opera.
13. Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme
14. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.
15. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.
16. Have your coworkers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard.
17. When the money comes out the ATM, scream "I won!, I won!"
18. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "run for your lives, they're loose!!"
19. Tell your children over dinner, "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

A question for all women that were raised in the "truth"
by codeblue in.
do you feel like you have low self esteem because of being raised as a jw?.
codeblue

Not sure on that one Codeblue - I would say that it's more of how my mother raised me than the JW faith - but low self-esteem has always been, and probably always will be an "issue" (at least that's what people tell me - I don't personally see it).
Mainly, my self-esteem issues would come from having a father that was totally uninvolved in my life, and a mother that seemed hell-bent on making sure that her children NEVER became pompous or arrogant, so would continuously tell us how bad we were. She had no qualms telling her girls every imperfection about ourselves, and making us believe ourselves ugly. I suppose she was concerned that we would care more about our personal appearance than pleasing God.
Not ever being able to measure up to perfection - and knowing that you were a failure each time you tried, was it because of the JW religion or not? - hard to tell. I suppose there are many people who grow up with perfectionist parents - it has nothing to do with their particular religion.

Hi Meg - I think I asked you this before, but I can't find the thread - you're in Michigan?
So are many of us - and we meet-up regularly. Whereabouts are you? (PM me if you wish).
