Good for ya!
hey all!
long time no see.. a couple of weeks ago, i got a phone call from my jw mother.
she said she had something interesting to tell me.... way back in 2002, i was moving out from my stupid roommate who was playing dumb jokes on me.
It is said that religion satisfies psychological needs, so don't feel any responsibility for this person becoming a JW.
Cults, for example, satisfy the psychological need for idealism - the JWs believe that only God's kingdom can solve mankind's problems. Persons inclined towards idealism or persons who can't cope with conflict, dysfunction, difficulties etc find the idealism which the JW cult offers to be appealing.
the presumably "biblical" practice of limiting the way women participate in congregational matters of the wtborg cult inc. (as well as certain other sects of christendom) may be a gross mis-interpretation of what paul meant.
i'm inclined to agree completely with this account of what paul really meant.. thoughts anyone?
aren't women more deserving of greater participation and respect?.
This series of articles discusses the arguments for and against women as religious leaders:

have da'd myself nearly 3 months ago.
now i am part of this world but i feel myself the odd one out.
something inside me is still blocking me to do the things i have been longing to do while i was still a jw, such as attending birthday parties, sex, etc.... just last nite, i was on the way to attend a birthday party.
When I read Honest post, I thought the devil is speaking. Don't know why I associate Honest "It is not a sin" to the serpent's words to Eve "You will not die"............ The devil is waiting to devour those leaving Jehovah's Organization"---------Sinboi
We were taught that only JWs are good associates but that is not true. There are good and bad people in the world and there is good and bad among the JWs too.
You do still have to evaluate persons as to whether they will make worthwhile friends for you, but JWs are not the only good associates in the world.

Sinboi,
There are persons who believe that the
Tanakh, Talmud, Torah, Vedic Scriptures, Bhagavad Gita, Quran (Koran), Hadith, Avesta
are god's word just as you believe that the Bible is god's word. Why are you right and they wrong?
a fair bit of time was spent discussing the (one) scripture in the bible that "proves" that when the bible touches on scientific subjects, it is absolutely correct.
this was at the most recent clam meeting this past week.
from isaiah, the reference to the "circle" of the earth.
Yeah. God can "inspire the bible" yet not ensure that the correct word is used by the writers? Kind of makes the whole divinely inspired idea laughable!-------- stuckinarut2
There is a Hebrew word for ball, it used at Isaiah 22:18. Why not use that to describe the earth instead of using a word that just goes along with the incorrect idea of the time ------Annon

according to the Bible, God is the author of the book --------Fisherman,

So the writer of Isaiah 40:22 was an astronaut?
Even if the writer of Isaiah 40:22 was an astronaut, stating that the earth is a circle does NOT indicate that it is NOT FLAT which is not scientific.
Nu-light: A circle = A sphere !!!
Non-WT real world Mathematics: A circle DOES NOT = A sphere

Fisherman,
According to your argument, Isaiah 40:22 CANNOT be used to prove that the earth is NOT FLAT. It is therefore disingenuous on the part of religionists like the WT to use this verse to show that the Bible is scientific since according to your argument, Isaiah 40:22 is NOT stating that the earth is NOT FLAT. Religionists need to stop using this verse for that purpose.
From the earth, the moon looks like a circle. And so does the earth looking from the moon or from above the earth or from any angle or direction............the verse is not incorrect when it refers to the circle of the earth from the point of view of the author of the related verse.
Where was the author when he wrote Isaiah 40:22? Was he on the moon or some other planet?

Hey, have most of you become atheist?--------sinboi
Do you believe in Allah, Krishna, Buddha? If not then you are an atheist with respect to these gods.
Do you believe any of the following Holy Books is the word of god?
Tanakh, Talmud, Torah, Vedic Scriptures, Bhagavad Gita, Quran (Koran), Hadith, Avesta
