I suggest you read larks post again and then I would add this. Sounds to me like you have nothing to loose.So do what ever makes you and your new wife happy.

You are starting a new life and leaving the old one so enjoy it. Nothing you do now short of rejoining the org is going to please your parents at this stage.

If they see you happy and living a good life this may change down the road.

If not you owe it to yourself and your new wife to live your own lives and be contented and happy.

Whats the dumbest thing you were counselled for?

i was once counselled by the elders for watching 'knots landing'....it became widely known in the congregation that me and a few other sisters would rush home from field service to watch our favourite soapie.

if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.

one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.

Hey Syn.

I love your "recommendation" about a pentagram on the KH lawn. We ought to get together on this. A good ground sterilizer put on the lawn in the shape of a pentagram would do the trick.

The jw's would swear the demons visited them. How about it? You up to this?

Anyone still bothered by the demons?

hi i'm wednesday and born and raised in jw.-inactive several years.

i have had a number of iincidents that appear to demonic've had spirit beings sit on my bed at ight and talk to me i've been literally touched by things unseen.

now i know the jw are big on demon stuff.

Are we still bothered by demons?

Once and only once I saw what apeared to be a small dark shadow quickly move across a hall from one room to another. I saw this out of the corner of my eye. My daughter said she had seen this before also.

Since this was in the house of my ex wife "a true demon" I shruged it off as only natural in that house.

Nothing before that or since.

If you are sure it is not sleep paralysis I would advise seeing a psychiatrist. It could be from some extreme forms of mental stress.

The dumbest counsel?

Believe it or not I was counseled on the way i pronounced 144000.

I pronounced it one hundred forty four thousand. The tm elder "about the dumbest dope I know of" made a big issue out of it. He told the audience it is to be pronounced one hundred AND forty four thousand. I was taught in school that the AND was redundant and unnecessary.

From then on I made an effort to say only one hundred forty four thousand without the AND while looking right at this elder.

He didn't like me. Wonder why?

well guys, i just cant do it.

for a long time now i have been trying to get on with my life and try to forget the rage and hurt i feel at the wtbs.

my resignation from the board a few weeks back was part of this.

Hello In Between.

You have many different posts here to get info from. I agree with several.

I didn't completely read all of them so if I seem redundant here forgive me.

I mentaly left the borg in 1980 and was df'd in 1991. It is a little over 11 years now and I still have the anger and grief. BUT it is greatly reduced. I read a lot in the beginning to find clear proof of the wbts lies and coverups and twisting of the scriptures. I used this info to destroy any lingering doubts and any lingering erroneous beliefs and teachings from the wbts. This went on about 2 yrs.

I was in the borg from birth about 50 yrs. I learned that since it took a long time to get this way it would not clear up overnight. It would take some time.

In about 4 years I was comfortable with my life. Since you have not spent 50 years in the borg I would think you will need less time to get your life to a comfortable level.

I look at my time in the borg as a time of trauma and chaotic mental abuse. It was a part of my life and so it is a part of me. I still have relatives and children in the borg and as you stated this can be a troubleing thing in your life. But this also cleared up and it is no longer a major worry for me.

You will find your measure of peace and happiness. It just takes a little time. Relax and enjoy all the good things that life brings your way.

You will always have memories and a disgust for the wbts. That is natural reaction of the human mind. It will serve as a warning and a helpful thing if you ever consider another religion for example.You will know what to look out for and have the needed knowledge to avoid a repeat of this situation. This gained knowledge about cults will help you avoid many of lifes pitfalls in areas other than just religion.

All of lifes experiences are helpful in that we gain knowledge about life and its tangles.

Wishing you a long and healthy and happy life.

I feel damaged by my experience

hi to everyone on this board - i have been around reading many of your posts for some time now but have only just felt strong enough to post my own thoughts.

the watchtower has left me with guilty feelings that i find hard to cope with at times.

my story in the "truth" started when i was 18 years old.

Hi GT and welcome.

You have and will find many here that share your experience. They will be of help as they understand where you are and where you are going.

If you primarily identified yourself as a jw and now you consider yourself no longer one, that is why you feel a loss of your identity. As another poster said you are a mother and that is a start to rebuild your identity. You are also YOU and all that includes Daughter-Good person- whatever you see yourself as.

Any substantial change in ones life causes this type of feeling and questioning. Given time it will balance itself out.

Best wishes to you and your family in your journey.
