  Guys I think the lack of enthusiasm on the part of the media in the US is due to the relativly small size of the jw's and their rather secritive behaviour.

  Although the wbts likes to describe the jw's as a religion of importance and world wide presence, it is virtually unknown by most people.

  The wbts has no charitable divisions, avoids the media, has always tried to stay low as regards the government and is of little importance to the average person other than waking people up on saturday mornings.

  Other than this, almost no media time is spent on anything to do with the wbts or jw's.

  I would think that keeping on with the efforts you and I and others have done, might one day change all this.

  Yeah I recognize Alpine. Just east of El Cajon, home of a pedophile now living In Boise Idaho.

  He is known for molestations in Calif and Idaho.

  Finally got df'd about a year ago after about 35 yrs. When his own daughter turned on him and shook up the elders again.

  This had been brought to the elders at least 4 times before now.

  I know this bastard well.

  Witnesses sit next to me at the theater last night

  had a bizzare experience last night.

  i went to see the movie mr. and mrs. smith (which, by the way, was pretty decent).

  my girlfriend and i showed up about 20 minutes before the show started, so we picked out some seats and then each went to the restroom in turn while the other watched the seats.

  To answer your question.

  Shunning as it is with the wbts is very different to YOU making a decision or OTHERS making a decision on your/their own to shun those who had done wrong to YOU/THEM.

  It is a decision not of the individual's own making. It is a decision imposed on others with out any discussion as to what was done to cause this or the legitimacy of the imposition.

  It is also a demand that will result in punitive actions against those who will not follow the instructions to shun this or that person.

  It is a demand that you as a person can not ignore even if you do not agree with it.

  It is a for ever decision or at least until the shunned person decides to bow down to the cults demands.

  Nothing at all like your or my decision to ignore some one who has hurt us.

  This whole shunning thing is so strange so confusing to the mind, going against a persons experiences and natural feelings at the order of a organized cult.

  Once I came upon an elder that I knew in a mens clothing store. This is the elder who for some reason felt required to tell me, that he liked nothing better than a good argument or a fight.

  He told me this before I was df'd. NOW he sees me in this store and he has FEAR on his facial expression.

  I decide to be a bit childish and turn quickly in his direction as if to cut him off. In a matter of moments he was on the run.

  So just for the hell of it I kept it up and he ran out of the building.

  I wonder what his story was to others or if he ever mentioned it to others.

  i dropped out years ago because i couldn't stand getting together with sisters i didn't like to do a talk.

  i hated it with a passion!!

  i do realize that you did learn but what i resented was that the sisters were inflicted on each other in a way that i don't think the brothers were.

  I DIDN'T LIKE IT MAINLY DUE TO THE OVERSEER'S LACK OF EDUCATION AND OFTEN A SORT OF GRANDIOSE ATTITUDE.

  ONE TIME I USED THE LIFT OF AN AIRCRAFTS WING AND HOW THIS COMES ABOUT TO MAKE SOME POINT REGARDING THE BIBLE TEACHINGS. DON'T RECALL WHAT IT WAS .

  BUT ANYWAY I GOT CHASTIZED FOR USING "SCIENCE" TO PROVE A BIBLICAL POINT.

  THE NEXT TIME, JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT, I USED ANOTHER SCIENCE EXAMPLE AND MADE IT AS STUPID AND ERROR FILLED AS I COULD AND NO ONE SAID A WORD.

  THE TIME THAT STANDS OUT IN MY MIND, WAS WHEN I WAS CHASTIZED FOR SAYING THE "ONE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR THOUSAND" AND WAS TOLD TO ALWAYS SAY " ONE HUNDRED (AND) FORTY FOUR THOUSAND".

  i mean seriously, since im not a jw perhaps id have a different opinion about it all.

  but a colleague from work says she dont want to come here as she got addicted to it and couldnt get anything else done.

  she apparently knows of similar other cases.

  Why is a podiatrist interested in our obsessions?? You work on feet.

  A psychiatrist, "thats at the other end of our body" specialist would be more helpful me thinks.

  First we get supported in our effort to leave and then become obsessed with all of the learning and recovery by coming to this forum.

  Then we close up and move on??

  NO we then get obsessed in helping others that are confused as we once were and we become obsessed with that.

  And then we move on? NO then we----ah tha hell with it.

  It is not often to hear from a child that stepped in and took over the responsibilities of the parents due to alcohol or other issues.

  And virtually raise their siblings and do a damned good job of it.

  Then along comes Brooke and Shelley and others on this forum.

  How do I control my jealousy?!! Help!

  the first time i can vividly recall feeling jealous was when i was 7.. my dad came home from visiting a client with gifts for me and my sisters.

  my younger sisters got a beaufiful handmade doll dressed in pink lace called betty and a handmade cotton cot.

  i got the 1982 yearbook of jws.

  WELL I am one of the bloks/guys and I am sure I will get hammered for this. But

  a relationship if it is to last and be worth the time and effort to keep it,

  requires that BOTH parties be interested in and willing to each help the other with ANY problem that threatens the relationship.

  This is why I believe her mate is obligated to work with her and look at himself also, to find a solution.

  From what her post said he is putting up a barrier percieved by her as a threat and refusing to deal with the problem at hand.

  Dealing with a problem needs questions, reassurance, kindness and an effort to see the other persons

  perceptions and how they feel. ON BOTH PARTIES.

  Claming up and saying shut up or I refuse to talk about it, is not cooperation or reassurance.

  I may be losing my sanity, but I agree with AFIN except I think you BOTH need counseling.

  He seems to be unable or unwilling to address this problem in a caring way and support you and help your lack of self esteem.

  You need to get help to build your self esteem to get rid of the fears of not being a complete loveable person.
