Things are more serious for Ozzie..................
by BLISSISIGNORANCE in.....................i received an sms from mrs ozzie last night informing me that ozzie is having an extremely risky operation on wednesday morning, 8am australian time.
i can't give more details at this stage as to the procedure due to confidentiality but i can assure you it is going to be dangerous!
mrs ozzie said that it had to be done despite the risk.. so if all of us here could take a moment tomorrow and send positive thoughts.

Do elders/PO's really care?

of my wife's congregation visited me, a real nice guy, but i knew he had gotten the letter from the borg.
anyway like i said a nice guy he promised to call again real soon that was prior to the memorial of 2003, well the memorialo of 2005 has come and gone and he still hasn't come back to visit.

What do we expect from the elders?
Not much more than what they receive from the wbts, in the way of training and treatment.
The elders are treated much like the middle echelon of a large old greedy corporation.
A corporation whose leaders do not trust the middle echelon and view the workers "publishers" as hourly workers of little education or value. Since they can be readily replaced.
The middle class and especially the workers are so far down the social ladder they experience very little trust of their actions, thoughts and especially their performance and least of all their personal feelings, from the leaders.
The middle class and especially the workers are expendable entities. Their needs or feelings or fears and especially their well being are of no consequence or interest by the corporate board of directors and the one or two that direct them.
This attitude, this belief this way of dealing with people is in place and filters down the ladder of command to even corrupt the workers.
After all how can a worker that knows he may have to shun those closest to him at the order of the corporation at any time, ever show loving kindness and become close and kind to others.
He risks the turmoil and grief of losing friends and protects himself by keeping his distance and never realy getting too close.
This is found throughout the corporate world of the wbts. Filled with back stabbing and lies all in the effort to get higher up the ladder of a nonsensical cult, of little value that provides nothing of worth to anyone.
Only a few things of value, that society provides freely and with out all the sanctimony.

WHAT was the nicest compliment anybody ever paid you? What did they say?
by Terry inwhen i was about 16 i had a terrible crush on an older lady (she might have been 30) who was the lovliest person ever.
she had poise, confidence, intelligence, wit, appreciation and culture.
i was just a skinny, shy, geeky kid that she took under her wing.

I was the gen. mgr. for an IH motor truck service facility owned by the adj. general of the state national guard.
I moved and resigned my position.
Later I wanted to start up my own franchise and asked him for a recomendation. Doubted I would get one.
His letter had only two sentences. "It is my great pleasure to recommend **** ********.
He is capeable and will accomplish anything you ask of him". I will never forget that.
I still have that letter.
Another time was when I had been df'd and the marriage was dying. The lawyers fees etc. had drained me dry.
I went to this lady who owned a tax return business and she contacted the IRS and got things straightened out. I could not pay her.
About 6 months later I sent her a letter of thanks and paid her in full. A few days later I got a letter back and about all she said was " thank you. you are an honorable man" You will never know how much that little sentence meant to me, after all the bs from my ex and the elders.

Meek Shall Inherit the earth

i was talking to a witness the other day and i was explaining from revelation how there is only one calling to heaven and there is not an earthly calling.
and the jw asked me to explain the verse from pslam which states teh meek shall inherit the earth and reside in it forever, any one have any scripture to refute his argument.

This is why I gave up on the bible.
For every verse that supports this or that, I can find a verse that condemns this or that. Or it directs the outcome in an intirely different direction.
It got to where every time I tried to confirm a belief with the bible, I would end up with a large headache and frustration and finally anger.
I finally came to the conclusion that "I must be too stupid to grasp this" and then just went along with the various teachings.
I fought with this for years and one day it finally dawned, that maybe the bible is too stupid to grasp.
I settled with that and the headaches frustration and anger went away.

Bookstudy in my home
by JAVA inwe host a discussion group in our home called the dayton salon.
our dogma is: food, wine, fellowship, and discussion.
we meet once a month and folks arrive with food to share, they fellowship in and out of the kitchen before settling down to discuss a topic (picked a month ago) in the den (we call the salon).

Of course the wbts would forbid anyone staying after the study in a group.
After all, these people after having what they think is a bible study, just might as a group continue using the bible on their own for an hour or so.
Actually researcing ON THEIR OWN god forbid.

What are some weird things that you do?

when i get a new book, i'll open it up to the middle of the book and stick my nose in the binding for about ten seconds, and smell how the glue, ink, and fresh paper smell.
ahhhh i love that smell.

If I am bored, like on a long trip and driving, I start doing mathmatics in my head. I will count the wheels on a truck going the other way by counting axles with 4 wheels and the ones with 2 wheels and arrive at the total.
The other thing I do that is wierd is that I spend a lot of time on this damned forum. My wife thinks I am nuts. She may be right.

A very lonely life.

i am 33 years old and have never had a relationship with anyone.
i have never dated..and as much as i would like to blame the jws, truth is i have never been asked out by anyone..ever.. i am a bit large, but i am not too fat or ugly and i think i am a good person, so why can't i find someone??

What Nathan Natas said and check out some of the churches and find a singles group.
If you are severely overweight, for this problem AND your health, look into weight reduction by your doctor and a weight reduction group.
Being ALONE is one form of being lonely, so making friends and associates is important. This and other things is where the psychologist is important.
Don't feel that this would be degrading yourself, there are VERY FEW of us that would not improve with a little visit to the psychologist.

isn't shunning a horrible experience, one borne from twisted psychological reasoning?
mandated shunning from a powerful and misguided religious organization is a great sin against both the person shunned and those who are obliged, yes obliged, to shun them.

Yeah Purple one, I know from where you come.
If someone had personally damaged you ,caused you a large loss of some kind, YOUR decision to shun that INDIVIDUAL is a normal and pragmatic thing to do.
But to DECLARE to about 6 million people that this individual is to be shunned by all, including close family and for reasons not explained to anyone, is nothing short of attempted destruction of this person.
If in no way other than emotionally and mentally. The no explanation clause will only leave the most awful acts IMAGINED, against God as the reason for this action. Usually it will be something of a sexual nature of the worst IMAGINED.
Again the members of the wbts are not living in reality. They live in a dream world of promises IN THEIR IMAGINATION.
Reality would have caused people to offer you helpful counsel and acceptance of your so called sins as the probable outcome of some one in distress. They would also realize that this same thing could happen to them under these circumstances and NOT look at you as one needing punishment and degradation.

I see still more in the pedophile and other issues.
There seems to be an inability, a refusal actually, to deal with reality and the real world. I saw this as starting from the top "bethel" and coming down through the do and co and elders. When we "elders" would call bethel desk, we only heard advice of one kind or another that seemed to say "don't stir the pot, sit on it, just drop it as the first answers. Unless it involved a possible apostate. Stay isolated, don't invite the authorities, they may want more information than they deserve.
They had the elder arrangement installed, yet it could do nothing about a legal misdemeanor or a felony, so lets see what happens. It may go away by itself thinking. Stay away from the worldly authorities since they hate god and the wbts.
Never stated like this, just the unspoken message.
