Remember the Revelation book?
by wozza ini recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.

The revelation book proves beyond any doubt how insular and self obsessed the society was and still is.
The revelation book for me was a giant red flag that helped me wake up. On several occasions I remember conducting the study as a stand in and it was especially during preparation for the group study I remember thinking WTF. Sorry for the French, but I just couldn't believe how they were interpretating everything and it was always connected to either a leaflet, a book or convention.
I always remember thinking if anyone else thought what I was thinking. Like sheep of course everyone would parrot what was written in the paragraph when a question was asked. This book is one of the craziest interpretations of the book of revelation!

Apart from the very occassional interesting talk, i have always found that most speakers come across in the same manner or in a similar montone way. Boring talks parroting watchtower teachings with no real heart.

Since when did Watchtower acknowledge the “United Kingdom” was even a thing? I thought it was “Britain” (England, Scotland, and Wales) and “Ireland” (Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) in their worldview.
Does this mean the Republic of Ireland gets a separate talk, and Northern Ireland is now covered by the United Kingdom? Or are they including the Republic of Ireland under “United Kingdom
Imho...Having lived in Ireland (south) for many years, the conventions were always held with an all Ireland perspective. This was purely down to logistics. It was easier for people to attend conventions from all parts of Ireland in the one place. So, one year, the convention might be held in cork, the next year Belfast and the next Dublin. Of course jw's are non political, so don't look at borders and regions in the same way. They view Ireland in its entirety based purely on a geographical perspective, being as practical and logistical as possible in feeding "their sheep"
Their reference to the United Kingdom is interesting though from a watchtower perspective

Today’s nauseating WT
by Slidin Fast ini am sitting at home, trying not to barf as this wt paragraph by paragraph tries to character assassinate those who have the temerity to take the emblems.
the unwritten, unspoken subtext is that they, the gb, the now distinct and separate “slave” are above all this.
they, the gold standard are immune to this questioning.

Legal Concerns About "Zoom" Meetings!
by Atlantis inthis whole "zoom" thing has got me wondering whether some of it is legal or not.
if a person has to dress up for a zoom meeting the way the watchtower dictates, doesn't this really go "beyond" cult?.
even the cults who committed mass suicide were able to dress the way they wanted for their meetings.

Jehovah's witnesses are not a cult!!?
Then
why are most of us on this site hiding our identities
Why are there so many heart breaking stories of mothers, brothers, sons and daughters no longer allowed to keep in contact with each other as a result of the disfellowshipping/disassociation policy
Why are members unnessessarily dying as a result of the blood policy that no other Christian organisation or indeed orthodox Jews agree with?
Why are members not allowed to question the leadership?
Why are the elders so controlling over its members lives?
Why don't the leadership comply with the higher authorities and hand over their database of alleged child abusers within their ranks?
Why can't members be allowed their own conscious decisions when it comes to holidays/birthdays etc
Why does the leadership manifest an orwellion approach to their history, ie destroying their old books/heritage.
I could go on and on.
I think everyone can judge for themselves if they consider the watchtower Bible and tract society to be a cult or not.

Repeating Jehovah Jehovah Jehovah

Completely agree with the OP.
I haven't been to a meeting in 2 years and have been listening lately to the new communication tool they use on their tablets for meetings. My Mrs is currently listening to this in the living room and can over hear.
I too noticed the constant use of the 15th century name 'Jehovah' all the way through the watchtower article and in the answers and prayers. It's incredibly excessive and annoying.
What they don't realise is that it is a very over familiar way of refering to the creator of the universe. Could you imagine one of the queen of England's servants speaking to her by calling her "Elizabeth" !!!
Whenever Jesus prayed to God, he always referred to God in an a close intimate way by calling him 'father'. He even told those in the sermon on the mount how we were to pray to God.. "Our father, who is in heaven......."
Whenever I pray to God, I always address him as my heavenly father. I never refer to him as Jehovah.
The jdubs are way of track on this one. But hey, it's a cult!
