Sept. 15th WT - WT Society Hypocritically Disses " Materialistic " JW's

as many of us are aware the wt society has done quite nicely in a material way for themselves.

the sales of properties of the former " bethel " in brooklyn amassed them millions of more $$$$ .

they have relocated into upstate new york and are building like wildmen.

Yep, Yep... Wanted to become a structural engineer/or/ architect and many brothers, including family mounted continual pressure on me to not go to the university. Funny after I buckled to the family/organizations pressure, it was like, "well, go over there and sweep the floor, idiot". Wt articles reasoned, "This system is not going to last long enough to even finish a four year program, your wasting your time."

My family has been in the truth since the 1910's and has steadily gotten poorer through the decades. "Before the truth generation" were doctors, lawyers, engineers, successful businessmen. I have uncles that had it made at different companies and would have been running the company today if they stayed, but they quit because they couldn't get off for a seven day convention or other "spiritual obligation". Everytime they could start building duplexes or apartments, the brothers would pressure them that they were getting too involved in the world. After five "generations" of decendants bowing to wt's advise the results are: brother is living with mother, sister's broke, I'm broke but about to finish a bachelors degree.

Mother-in-law is currently putting pressure on the children to not excell in school and start pioneering early. I take my daughter to McDonald's and stand and say, "look around here", Watch what the workers do. If you follow the advice you are given by Wt and Granny, welcome to your future. Needless to say, I do reprogram after in-laws visit. In fact, wife and I decided that precious young impressionable daughter was not to visit the grandparents alone ever again.

If you are a jw youth reading here, do not trust wt's advice. If you stick around active in the truth you will be hounded until you conform. Remember, expect no check from the congregation, quickbuild, bethel, or wtb&ts when you are broke and too wore out to work.

Would you ever go back for the fake friends ?

to quote the great rapper t.i this statement hit home : "never forget the people who stayed when everyone else left.. stay true to your team".

i had a lot of people leave my side three years ago; because some of my "phony homies" began to listen to my ex-finance spreading rumors about me and my family.

so to make a long story short i lost a lot of "friends" from my old way of life, but i picked up some true homies , and reconnected with a true homie in the long run.. i just had to ask that question because some of us were popular while we were in or we weren't the social butterflies.

I wasn't a social butterfly, but I did host alot of "get to gethers" at my house that included everyone from the congregation. We wrote invitations to everyone making sure that no one was left out, even inactive or irregular etc. That brought some criticism. I always paid the postage instead of giving the invitations out at the hall, I think it means more to people when they receive it in the mail anyway.

My house and property could handle 200 + people and parking easy as we did it many times. These get to gethers cost me alot of money a hugh investment in labor to get things ready for a gathering, but I'm not complaining. I felt like it was my "elder statement" that I did not like clicks.

When it comes to the phony friends, interesting that few invited us to their homes, not that I was looking for a revite. Since I moved from the city 7 years ago I haven't had anyone call to see or catch up etc.

I'm still struggling because my social life was so centered on the my close and personal phony friends, and now that has been a drastic change to not having any friends. I have not given up on mankind, but it is a slow process to replant new friends, but I am slowing making headway.

It is interesting how low you feel when you find out that your "friends" were not friends at all but just conditional associates, and I haven't even been DF'ed or dissed. Well that just means more cake for me, or maybe more wine.

Over 33 years ago Dad copied all the societies articles about higher education and gave them to me to read. One of the articles claimed that there was not enough time to even finish a 4 year program before armageddon. Then Dad informed me that I would have to move out if I wanted to go to college. Needless to say 33 years later and no armageddon.

The advise that Brother Moron gives is just as bad as Dad's enforcement of wt education policy was 33+ years ago. With the decline in unions in first world countries the collective bargaining of the individual worker is destroyed, meaning lower and lower wages, unemployement, and dissatisfying jobs.

Interesting that anthony demonizes education even more by claiming that your son/daughter will not just miss a few meetings but will become an evolutionist, (an unbeliever). Don't the scriptures also indicate that a man that does not provide for his own household is worse than an unbeliever?

If you are a "youth" in "god's organization" and reading this, take my advise please, run as fast as you can from this destructive and self-serving oriented cult or at least ignore anthony morris advise on education.

I've seen the young ones they are propping up on the circuit assembly stages as examples as they tell their story about how they were given a scholarship and the elders came over and talked with the family about what they would do, (as if it was any of their business). The young brothers and sisters telling their story on the stage are about to cry in an emotional breakdown because their inner voice is telling they made a mistake and they should ignore the bad advise. But they are forced like slaves to conform.

Believe me, there has been many times that I wished that I would have just told dear old dad, "ok, if that's what it takes, I'm moving out". Oh, by the way, I am just a few credit's from getting my bachelors and I have appreciated all the help from the U.S. Government, the grants, the education tax savings. The world want their citizens to be self-sufficient just like Paul said, not dependent on wt for a better life some day.

checking out the billy graham site i thought it was interesting that they post their filings with the irs, unlike wtbts, or at least i've never seen one on jw.org.. .

Those boring meetings, it used to disgust me that at a service meeting where 99% of the congregation is a publisher already, the assignment was to study for 20 minutes in the OR book "why JW's go in the field service". If your at this meeting and you don't have a clue as to why you are going from door to door??? here's your sign.

who at the top (gb) gets to live in extravagant homes, be driven in limos, take fantastic vacations and buy what ever they want?

my stupidity maybe showing but where does the gb live, bethel?

Seen on the ground at a relatives' house...

a couple of weeks ago, my wife and i visited her aunt on saturday.

when we were leaving, i happened to glance down and spotted some 'trash' that had evidently fallen from the door and was down in and among the potted plants that share the porch space.. i instantly knew what it was from the 'look', and reached down and grabbed it as we were walking to our vehicle.. sure enuf, it was a 4-page small pamphlet... some sort of preaching words... (i didn't read them), and then on the back side was a stamped 'invitation' for the person to go to their district assembly the last week in july.. ummm... belton, tx is about 150 miles away from here.

i'm so sure that someone would drive 150 miles to go to something that they just read about on a pamphlet stuck in their door.

Yes, Belton stinks. No resturants around the site for at least a half hour +++ ride either north or south. One of the last that I went to had the ice skating rink under plywood with the seats on top of that. The elderly were freezing to death on the floor. I was quite comfortable. it was coooooold.

I thought it was hilarious that they had wired phones thoughout the convention area that brothers in the telecommunications work had to come in early and stay late to "plug in" and "un-plug". Evidently, the co's couldn't do this. You know they haven't had much training.

I also remember that at one cir. assembly DO Coinyavich (spelling like it sounds) started to harass the elders about sitting up front at the elders meeting. There were no chairs where he wanted people to sit. He made such a stink about the "weak elders" in the group that we had to bring chairs up and put them in front of him so that he would shut up. There were other comments he made; I just assumed he hated elders and the rest.

San Antonio was sweat. Riverwalk, resturants, ambiance, fun, Oh, but they saved $125.00 by going to Belton.

Have you ever heard a talk on child molestation following a judicial reproof?

when someone is reprimanded by a judicial commitee there is usually a talk given to the congregation about issues that leads to serious sins.

sometimes that talk takes you by surprise because the reproof was private and no announcement was made to the congregation.

other times you figure out why an individual was the object of a judicial commitee...i heard talks on the usage of drugs, cigarettes, pornography, bad forms of intertainment, fornication, adultery, fraud, gambling, disapproved medical treatments...but never on child abusers and mostly how to protect your children against this terrible crime.. do you think the reason there is never mention of child abuse is that if many knew there is a child molester in their midst they would pressure the elders to go to the autorities?
