James, good post. It's true, the elder bodies in the WTBTS are full of nit pickers. They behave just like chickens that peck to death the weaker chickens. Chicks will do this to other chicks. Witnesses grow up in a judgemental environment and only know this way of dealing with others. Somehow the Biblical teachings of love and compassion are never learned.

Letting go of Highly Qualified Men
by James Jackson ini have been posting for a few months now and have read the life stories of tech49, confusedandalone, winston smith and other brothers who have held prominent positions in the organization who were dismissed not for any gross sins, but mainly for not keeping their child toeing the line.
they have been "cast aside", nit picked to death, and made to feel unworthy for their years of dedicated service.
even in my case, having my best friends treat me like the plague to jockey for position of recogntion.. is this what the organization is resorting to now?

Today's WT study - WTS playing into Satan's hand?
by leaving_quietly inthe picture on page 26 of the 8/15/13 wt shows three scenarios with the caption "what scriptural principles should come to your mind under these circumstances.
" the scriptures are, of course, what's discussed throughout the article.
"the desire of the flesh", "the desire of the eyes" and "the showy display of one's means of life".

leaving, thanks for your post.
I believe that they pull "evil" things
of the world to bash out of their arse to use in the art work. Yes, they create a new app for the smartphone or tablet, but then bash as evil the "desire" to get a smart phone. I'll admit that for me individually the smart phone was a tool that helped expose the truth about the truth. I remember reading articles the e-watchman had written about why the WTBTS had to change their thinking on certain scriptures because they painted themselves in a corner. Further Watchtower Facts.com was also a regular read. As the scales of my eyes fell while I was reading this information at appropriate times at work, I was crushed. They are playing with fire endorsing/condeming the internet or smart phones etc.

Catching the Governing Body with their pants down around the ankles
by Terry inthe following information is significant and extremely useful.. for what?.
for proving a point about jehovah's channel of communication.. what about jehovah's channel of communication?.
it is a fool's paradise of misinformation, awkward and ridiculous assertions and hard-headed nonsense presented as superior divine insider knowledge.. ***.

Thank you Terry, another great post. I remember my mom told me she had studied with a women months before the new understanding of the superior authorities in the early sixties, and the women argued that the organization was wrong. My mother was insistent and the women continued studing. Then Mom went to the convention and listened to the talk explaining the new understanding of the superior authorities. Although embarrassed, she humbly re-taught the "corrected" information to the study. I can't say if women ever got baptised. But my mom was understandably embarrassed.
I was around 9 years old when the article came out with the understanding that the heart is the seat of motivation, and not just a blood pumping muscle and I also remember the stage props of the heart and the mind at the assembly. I remember telling my Dad that they were wrong, and I was only 9 years old. I was still around when they changed it again in the 80's.
Thanks

When we used to receive the WT subscription in the mail wrapped, I enjoyed taking my knife out and opening the magazines at the Sunday WT study. The schhhhhg of the knife always made a wonderful noise which often brought disapproving looks from those that had six ink marking colors in their personal study copy.

Jehovah only uses honest mean in directing his flock... except that one guy
by confusedandalone inyesterday in yet another attempt to get me back to jehovah's organization of faithful men, we began to argue.
when i asked her how she could possibly trust the men leading this organization who have lied over and over again about everything we believe.
she literally scream ed at me and said, "the men jehvoah uses in this organization to take the lead are standup men who always have the best intentions for the flock.".

Wing commander. Exactly, excellent point. I have an older brother spongeing off 80 year old mom. He is useless other than criticizing others.

My highlights from the AGM
by Apognophos insome of this will not be new to those of you who read other people's notes, but i bet there are a few new bits for you here, so i've provided a user-friendly table of contents, as an homage to the contents that appear before each book of the bible in the new nwt.
i might remember more highlights later, as i'm rather tired right now, but this is what i can recall off the top of my head.. contents (use of quote marks in this section is facetious; these are not actual quotes).
"say, did you notice that 2014 is the 100th anniversary, people?".

The Bible is now Gray?and don't tell me,,,,,, and probably no zipper? ..../.no Duck Dynasty camouflage, no Hot pink, and definitely no blue jean covers? Blue jean Bibles seem to be disrespectful, we don't allow blue jeans when eating in the Bethel dinner.
Yes, brothers the bible is a gray area, we have the truth, just trust us we'll tell you what to do, just like we always have.

Kingdom hall constructions in developing countries
by StephaneLaliberte injust about everyone heard about some brother, sister or couple go in the south somewhere to help build a kingdom hall.
what i am wondering is:.
since north americans clearly make more money, wouldnt it make more sense for a brother to work in his home town and give away money to pay some trades man in the south to do the work?

Ecan6, I agree. I spent nearly five years building branches overseas, one in Africa. Several times we spent our day off working on a concrete block with a tin roof Kingdom Hall for the local brothers. Eventually, some Bethelite brothers were recruited to live in small travel trailers and move around building KH's of concrete block and metal roofs, no bathrooms, and many times a dirt floor.
I couldn't see this from a monetary standpoint either. Even when building the branch, (for a most arrogant Branch Committee that were abusive to the volunteers, I eventually left) I couldn't see bringing all these people from 1st world countries. The airfare alone paid by the volunteers could have paid for hiring a worldwide contractor.
But I also went around with the other elders about hiring a lawn maintenance company to mow the lawn. I feel that a local congregation should be able to contract the lawn maintenance out to the lawn mower people that like that work. Many publishers are elderly, have heart problems, easily get heat exhaustion, and have alergy problems just to name a few safety reasons for paying a lawn maintenance crew.
But the WTBTS is insistent on using volunteer labor, even though the "opportunity costs" for the volunteers are greater than the end value of their product. Go figure.
