Leah Remini to tackle JWs in new special
by betterdaze inthe star has a previous first-look production deal with the network to produce unscripted series following the success of her emmy-winning show “leah remini: scientology and the aftermath.” according to the hollywood reporter, remini will produce a special for the network during the break following season 3 of the acclaimed docuseries.. it notes that jehovah’s witnesses, while based on biblical teachings, have come under fire over the years for similar practices to the church remini left years ago.
for example, practices of ousting or shunning members who have dissenting views, a blanket refusal to participate in politics and government as well as not celebrating christmas or birthdays are all things that the special will reportedly cover.
additionally, the religion has predicted the literal end of the world several times, obviously to no avail.. .

If JW's had seen Leah Remini's series on Scientology and enjoyed it, it will be interesting to see their reaction to the same consideration of Jw's.

Sometimes it's the little things....
by dubstepped ini'm listening to a podcast where a former elder describes how another elder conducted the watchtower study about hyperbole.
the elder called it hyper-bowl.
soon the whole congregation called it hyper-bowl.

Receiving so much hate recently....
by stuckinarut2 inwell, as you all know, my wife (unstuck) and i are not df or da.. we just stopped attending several years back after my "apostate" online activity was found by a nosey employee of ours while she was working in our office (long story if anyone wants to know - it would have to be another thread).
we never met with any elders - no congregation judicial activity occurred (as we would never consent to do so anyway).
so our policy has been to be the same kind, loving, normal people we have always been.

Yes, I can identify with your feelings. Recently, last winter, I wanted to send a gift of high quality steaks to my Mom who has my brother living with her as he is unemployed. Yes, he hasn't been weened. I had a great year and appreciating God's grace, I wanted to share, nothing more and nothing less.
I was called by the company and they said they refused the order. On one side I regretted making the order, because they are great at making up lies and no telling what story they came up with. Then, on the other side of me, I thought, good, that shows me their heart condition. My family, as many JW families are full of hatred, anger, and intolerance.
I suggest concentrating on the windshield (the future and future friends) and just not worry about trying to sustain any relationship with your former friends associated with Jw's. Of course, be peaceable with all men as you have done. They are interpreting your kindness as antagonistic.
You can continue to do CPR on a dead person, but eventually you have to call it for what it is. They do not want a relationship with you or your wife, you are as dead to them. Take a new photo and continue "onward through the fog".

Hospitality - How not to.....March 2018 study article.
by punkofnice inwhat do you make of this part of the march 2018 watchtower study edition?.
2 among other things, peter urged his brothers: “be hospitable to one another.” (1 pet.
4:9) the word “hospitality” in greek literally means “fondness for, or kindness to, strangers.” note, however, that peter urged his christian brothers and sisters to be hospitable “to one another,” to those whom they already knew and associated with.

It's obvious they are closing the distance in between the wagons. Maybe that's why you are not greeted even when visiting the Kingdom Hall.

Consequences for having a non religious wedding ceraminy?
by Addison0998 inhey i was wondering if maybe someone who is an ex elder or who knows a lot about these things could help me.
my dad is an elder but i need to be cautious with questions i ask.
now that i’ve been woken up from my brainwashed love of this corrupt corporation and from my belief in the bible, and my fiancé is starting to wake up as well, i really don’t want to have the sexist, overused, impersonal talk outline used for my wedding ceremony by some elder who is trying to show off his talk giving skills.

Personally, I think you've got it. I wouldn't want a cold dead wedding by the organization book and some Watchtowers written in the 1980's.
I believe with the fait accompli method that only questions can be asked and you can just give simple "none of your business" answers.
Just make sure you have credible evidence to indicate that it was not because of premarital relations or that she is currently pregnant, (unless you are Joseph fathering the Messiah) which means you have to come up with a plan.
Questions will be asked of you even if you have it at the Kingdom Hall, even the day of the ceremony the speaker can ask you if you have "done the nasty" and good lord don't touch her breast.;)
Personally, I kinda like the edginess of running off and eloping. You know witnesses, they will talk no matter what until something else is news worthy.
Basically, you can say, "we didn't want the emotional pressure, the expense, and so forth, so that we could concentrate on spiritual goals, "we are trying to keep our life simple so we can pioneer together", (I've learned what the real meaning of the term, "Pioneering together" means)
You might add that local weddings have become competitive to out do the other and you didn't want to further the competitive spirit in the congregation.
In ancient times a man would just walk through the streets with his wife without a ceremony, everyone would know they were now married.
Make sure your paperwork is together to make it legal. IF, thats what you want to do. Also, There is nothing wrong with having a private ceremony having a person, not necessarily an elder, give your formalities, and inviting only your family.
If you are not currently the object of some "investigation" by the elders for suspicious behavior you will be all right.
Personally, I would give you a greater wedding present if I didn't have to go. I never liked the weddings. They have banished the liquor, dancing, and music at the reception; and drinking with a suit on in your car like you are a teenager is a drag.

I'm so glad that he has his hair and moustache trimmed so well, as recommended by the Governing Body; what a witness.
