Ex-Jehovah's Witness Recovering Group 3 and This Site
by dubstepped ini don't remember seeing it ever really talked about here but the facebook group with the namesake of this post shut down at the end of march.
it was archived and they weren't clear as to when or if they would come back.
it seemed to come out of nowhere, and i know a lot of people were disappointed.

The dishonesty of JWs vs mainstream churches
by Wonderment inone of the most vexing matters confronting us as christians has to do with the apparent lack of honesty of so-called "christian" teachers on the many issues they frequently talk about.
this should not be shocking to us since scripture tells us that "everyone has sinned.

Random Musing of an ex-JW between a rock and a hard place.
by StarTrekAngel inmany of you may recall pass postings of mine where i mentioned my plans of moving away from my current neighborhood.
mainly because my office got moved and now my commute is about one hour each way.
my employer is pretty flexible so showing up on time, for now, is not an issue.

Hey Star Trek, I have empathy for your situation, it appears to you are in rock and hard place, and, it is difficult to leave a cult completely behind. I sympathize with you. We are all damaged to some degree.
Moving on to business:
Personally, If I didn't have the cash, I wouldn't try to buy or build a house unless I had a banks approval first with an agreed upon period of time to close. Working with a builders' financier's in an expanding economy is not the side of the table where you want to negotiate from. Get your financing lined up, i.e. make loan applications to lenders, then go to a neighborhood that you like and negotiate a price for a home.
If the new prices are outrageous in a hot area and you can't afford it, then perhaps look into a used home that you can revamp. However, if you walk in to a builder, coolly look at their models, say, "I don't know, I'm not fond of some of your selections", and you have a letter in your coat pocket that says's you have a loan from a such and such bank for six months to 95 percent of completion, you can then negotiate a good price for the house. I wouldn't play by their rules. (This is a whole other topic for a thread)
What you are doing is comparable to going to an auto dealership and letting them ask you what payment you can afford as opposed to what car you want. There is a world of difference.
Read the Donald Trump's "The Art of the Deal" (used, 50 Cents). There is nothing superbly outstanding or moving the earth in it, it just gives an insight that some may not have naturally.
Best wishes. And.....yes, I would tell your MIL your moving. Let her make her choice.

Leah Remini to tackle JWs in new special
by betterdaze inthe star has a previous first-look production deal with the network to produce unscripted series following the success of her emmy-winning show “leah remini: scientology and the aftermath.” according to the hollywood reporter, remini will produce a special for the network during the break following season 3 of the acclaimed docuseries.. it notes that jehovah’s witnesses, while based on biblical teachings, have come under fire over the years for similar practices to the church remini left years ago.
for example, practices of ousting or shunning members who have dissenting views, a blanket refusal to participate in politics and government as well as not celebrating christmas or birthdays are all things that the special will reportedly cover.
additionally, the religion has predicted the literal end of the world several times, obviously to no avail.. .

If JW's had seen Leah Remini's series on Scientology and enjoyed it, it will be interesting to see their reaction to the same consideration of Jw's.

Sometimes it's the little things....
by dubstepped ini'm listening to a podcast where a former elder describes how another elder conducted the watchtower study about hyperbole.
the elder called it hyper-bowl.
soon the whole congregation called it hyper-bowl.

Receiving so much hate recently....
by stuckinarut2 inwell, as you all know, my wife (unstuck) and i are not df or da.. we just stopped attending several years back after my "apostate" online activity was found by a nosey employee of ours while she was working in our office (long story if anyone wants to know - it would have to be another thread).
we never met with any elders - no congregation judicial activity occurred (as we would never consent to do so anyway).
so our policy has been to be the same kind, loving, normal people we have always been.

Yes, I can identify with your feelings. Recently, last winter, I wanted to send a gift of high quality steaks to my Mom who has my brother living with her as he is unemployed. Yes, he hasn't been weened. I had a great year and appreciating God's grace, I wanted to share, nothing more and nothing less.
I was called by the company and they said they refused the order. On one side I regretted making the order, because they are great at making up lies and no telling what story they came up with. Then, on the other side of me, I thought, good, that shows me their heart condition. My family, as many JW families are full of hatred, anger, and intolerance.
I suggest concentrating on the windshield (the future and future friends) and just not worry about trying to sustain any relationship with your former friends associated with Jw's. Of course, be peaceable with all men as you have done. They are interpreting your kindness as antagonistic.
You can continue to do CPR on a dead person, but eventually you have to call it for what it is. They do not want a relationship with you or your wife, you are as dead to them. Take a new photo and continue "onward through the fog".
