Smoking gun GB can’t get out of this one
by Mikejw inhere in 2022 if anyone says anything against the vaccines even a little bit you are almost apostate.. someone once mentioned all vaccinated sports stars collapsing and someone else said not to speak badly about the gb or by extension jehovah.. the gb can’t get out of this one, it’s gone too far.
it’s now the case that if you speak against the vaccines you are speaking against the gb and by extension jehovah .

punkofnice.. on Babylon the Great --"that is their propaganda, not everyone elses"....
What they taught about Babylon the Great made sense to me...and I haven't looked into other plausible takes on what it might actually mean...I think I will start a new topic on that note.

Something very wrong with that picture...They should be ashamed to ask for those who play there for donations...you would think they would be happy to provide some healthy recreation for those who are working for a pentance.

10 years on and I’m still indoctrinated
by joe134cd inthis experience highlights the level of my indoctrination, after 10 years of been a pomo.
a few months back my gf was hinting to me about what we could do for my birthday.
to be honest i just had no idea, that i even had a birthday.

I wasn't raised JW and we never had birthday parties...I never felt like I was missing anything...I don't get why some who were raised JW feel slighted... -

1985 and baptism...I wish I had read this before today
by enoughisenough ini am posting a link as to being legally bound to jw rules at time of baptism.
i only did a quick skim, but what i gathered is interesting, and what it says about 1985 may be of use to some hoping to just fade and not be bothered.
in 1985, the questions were changed at baptism for legal purposes so they could have causation to defend themselves should you decide to sue for whatever reason.

( in other words, you legally agreed they can do as they wish with you after 1985 ) check out the link...I didn't have time to absorb all of it...https://www.nairaland.com/3846473/verbal-legal-contract-called-baptism

Meeting attendance
by Benavidez ini was wondering what your guys' meeting attendance was like.
our meetings here is like 50/50 with zoom and in person.
the spanish has it a little "better" with it being like 30% zoom attendance with most attending in person.. i've heard of congregations in other states having attendance where most (even elders and ms) attend meeting only via zoom and even have their cameras off.

? for those attending either inperson or zoom-do you see a decline overall?

Conditions of Watchtower Baptism
by Vanderhoven7 ini understand that there are 80 to 100 questions that would-be witnesses must answer correctly before they can be considered eligible for "christian baptism".
however i have noticed that none of the questions relate to the 607destruction, the 1914 invisible presence and enthronement, or even the 1919 appointment of the faithful slave.. now some may feel my question is ridiculous, but bear with me.. will jehovah's witnesses baptize someone who answers all 100 questions satisfactorily, but rejects 607, 1914 and 1919 and the events the watchtower associates with these dates if they agree not to express their rejection to others?.
your thoughts....

question 2 has changed over time...I remember when the words God's Spirit directed organization were part of it. Answering # 2 affirmatively is a legally binding contract --no one tells people that aspect of it. Raymond Franz explained it in one of his books. There was also some unusual wording in the last baptizm talk I heard towards the end they were informing the new ones of what was expected of them as to preaching and teaching...I remember thinking, WHAT???? I wish I could remember it, but it seemed a total overreach.

more questions that should be asked: do you understand that we expect you to denouce your former religion, at least some of your friends and family and become part of God's organization with a worldwide circle of friends and family...but if you decide for you no longer want to be a JW, your new friends and family in the org will kick you to the curb and have nothing to do with you because you have become a filthy apostate?
Do you understand that by being baptized, acknowledging that you are part of Jehovah's organization, you have entered into a legal contract with the JW org?
Do you understand that your spirituality will be judged by how many hours you report for service... and it will effect if and when you have priviledges, if you are invited to certain functions?
Do you understand that you can't question the GB, even if what they teach you goes against the scriptures or else you will be kicked out and are deserving of death ( see Walsh Trial held in Scotland 1954 -statements made under oath are still current from where I am sitting ) ( I am sure I could think of more--people don't get full disclosure during bible studies )

Useless Majors
by Sea Breeze ini was passing through a very liberal college town recently during rush hour.
so, i decided to stop for some refreshment at a fine-looking establishment and wait for traffic to die down.
a young waitress waited on me who probably could have been stevie nicks twin when she was young.
