Are you driven by vengeance or Payback?
by Fisherman in“there is nothing more ironic and curious than a trapper being caught in his own trap or a plot backfiring.
ironic justice is the best revenge.” the inventor of the brazen bull, one if the most heinous torture devices in history was tricked to go inside of it and died of the torture he created.. probably one of the greatest movies ever made features revenge as its theme: once upon a time in the west.
sadly in this movie the main character doesn’t rely on ironic justice happening by god or chance.

my mate and I were in a motel room for the night...2 beds , a bedside table apart. We each took a bed. I wasn't quite asleep when I felt I was being cozied up to, you know, warm flesh against yours... That was ok, until I noted I could hear my mate breathing/snoring from the other bed. So I joined my mate!

question for those who either aux pioneered pioneered
by enoughisenough inhow many of you would have spent the hours "pioneering" if it weren't for the pats on the back and being looked up to as someone special in the congregation?
i will admit that back in late 1970's i attempted to aux pioneer during a campaign because it was promoted and seemed the right thing to do,but i didn't get the hours and it was stressful trying to...and i didn't feel like a cheerful giver.
i never attempted it again.

phizzy "right thing to do" yeah, there is a lot of emotional blackmailing going on in the org-guilt tripping people into even selling their homes, taking advantage of others and taking odd jobs, etc. to continue to do it. But it seems to me, there were the Kudos---the organization has special meetings/schools for them. Others in the congregation put at least some of them on a pedistal. ( Pioneer only parties or maybe dinners where only pioneer and elders/family were invited.) James said not to be comparing ourselves with others, but the org itself sets up these divisions. I personally never fell into the trap of thinking the elders or pioneers were better/more spiritual minded than me.-Bible says there are gifts in men, and not all have the same gifts..( that being said ,I don't think for the most part that others considered me "spiritual minded".) I also felt that some of the pioneers were more judgemental of others who didn't pioneer and even had a jealousy over other pioneers. -some who have pioneered can speak to that......

desirous of change "Elders are also the "glorious ones". Best not speak poorly of the "glorious ones". That's grounds for DFing." I was set up once. The elders were trying to get a reason to axe me. I got a call from an elder in a congregation next state over. He knew of somethings going down in my life, but not sure exactly the how of that. Anyway, I was a bit suspicious of his call. In course of conversation, he ask Me, " are the elders there doing you any good?" --clearly a fishing expedition to get the goods on me for speaking against the "glorious ones". I was on to him! I said, "No, but they aren't doing me any harm either."

ThomasMore "As a result, many who followed their teachings now want nothing to do with the Bible, as if it was responsible for their ludicrous teachings." I have noticed this among the ex JWs...they cared enough about the Bible to "study" with the JW and become JW, and when they leave, many seem to distain the Bible and God Almighty.

I went to a thrift store yesterday, early afternoon and there were 3 sisters coming in as I was leaving. ( the youngest spoke to me ...her mother looked confused...I greeted them and ask how they were. and so got a reply One didn't say anything, but I had never known her anyway....they talked low while walking away-maybe about me!) so I digressed...Anyway, I am pretty sure, based upon hew the 3 were dressed, they had been out in "service"

Chezdale, the information you brought out made me think of this Scripture : Job 38 :7 When the morning stars yoyfully cried out together , and the sons of God began shouting in applause. ...so a CO could stretch that out to say the elders being, as they claim ,the stars in Jesus hand , therefore angels. ( if you followed that line of reasoning)

hellothere, I have read a lot of "stuff" and watched a lot of videos, so I don't know where I got this tidbit from and there may or may not be truth in it...but according to what I gleaned, the org stopped appointing the elders because if he turned out to be a bad choice, ( say maybe a pedophile ) the CO would take the fall, so to speak and not the GB.
