You need to be legally married before getting baptised as a JW. My uncle and aunty became JW's when they were in their 60's. Before heir baptism, they had to go to the government office to have their marriage registered legally. They were married as Roman Catholics, but had not registered.

Why don’t couples have to remarry when becoming JWs?
by enigma1863 inyou have to get baptized even if you were baptized in several other religions so why don’t they require you to remarry your spouse, especially if you were married as a mormon or muslim and had multiple wives.
some countries legally allow polygamy so you couldn’t necessarily just go by the laws of the country right?
these problems probably never come up though because i bet not many flds or muslims become jws.

jehober "always'" protects his 'loyal servants'?
by eyeuse2badub inlast week i watched the docuseries on prime video called “the last narc”.
it was mainly about the notorious mexican guadalajara drug cartel during the 70’s and 80’s and a united states dea agent, kiki camerena, who was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered in guadalajara, mexico in 1984. this is a very well-known and haunting event here in the usa.. however, there was also about a 7-8 minute segment during the docuseries that graphically detailed the kidnapping, rape, and murder of 4 jehovah’s witnesses that also took place just days before kiki camerena was taken.
the jw’s were 2 married couples, us citizens, dennis and rose carlson, ben and pat mascarenas.

This is not a current dilemma.
In the first century, Herod Agrippa was able to kill James, but when he imprisoned Peter, an angel saved him.

"JW Box" $30 Logo Markup Scam!!!! Huge!!!
by thedepressedsoul inso get this, wt has something they're calling a "jw box" that gives people in africa "spiritual food".
the best part, they want donations of $75 for it!
so they don't provide any physical food to people in africa but they can send them "spiritual food" for $75.

err--wont the users need electricity ?...and be on the internet ?
The branch loads usb sticks with videos and content and sends it to the congregation, who then load it to the jw box, which the publishers connect and download into their devices.
It works as a normal device and can be charged through usb, adapter or power bank.

The best part, they want donations of $75 for it!
Can you send the source for this where they have asked people to donate $75 for it?
Turns out, you can buy the same exact thing on Amazon for $45!!!
Have you tried checking if Amazon delivers it to those areas in Africa?
Also, the article on jw.org clearly says that the router is purchased from a commercial firm

Worldwide preaching campaign targeting government officials.
by smiddy3 indoes anybody know what this message will contain ?
is it designed to provoke a response that will bring persecution on the religion ?
or is it just going to be some meaningless weak campaign to get the rank and file all excited about it and achieving nothing.. or is it going to suggest to the government officials that this mob could very well be the next jonestown /wacol incident and we need to act now.

Or is it going to suggest to the Government Officials that this mob could very well be the next Jonestown /Wacol incident and we need to act now.?
With all the construction projects planned for the next decade, it is unlikely that a Jonestown scenario will ever come. JW's have three important things to survive:1. millions of free volunteer members2. Pristine real estate (even though they are selling KH's, they are buying a lot of new properties that are not reported in public)3. Full support of the US government
Pull any one of the three, and things may start crumbling. -

Where have the NWT Bible changed verses to fit their theology ?
by smiddy3 ini can think of two to start off with .
john 1:1 and luke 23:43 ,what others can you come up with ?.
-
Drearyweather
wt version: it is people that happened to be in the cemetery that saw the resurrected holy ones and went into Jerusalem to be visible there.
not sure if this is what the WT teaches

Let's hope that our hatred for JW's don't persuade us to support what Russia is doing.

Another suspect JW experience
by neat blue dog inthe latest jwdotorg experience tells of using video conferencing to hold congregation meetings inside jail for prisoners.
it says that the prison director himself and his wife have also started attending the zoom meetings and quotes him as saying.
“these meetings are of great importance for the spiritual and emotional well-being of the prisoners during this period of social isolation.
-
Drearyweather
I dunno, maybe I'm a little suspicious but JWs have been known to pad out their experiences to say the least.
neat blue dog,
The name of the prison is given there in the image in the article on jw.org: Complejo Penitenciario Pampa De Las Salinas Provincia De San Luis
You can contact them and get verification.

Why Do Intelligent People Still Believe In The Jehovah’s Witness Religion?
by minimus ini understand it’s a cult.
but what makes an intelligent person actually believe they have the “truth” as taught by jehovah’s witnesses??
?.

If a person decides not to join the JW religion, does it mean he is intelligent?
