Rough Draft Chapter from our Next Book

Hello Vienne,

The information you have collected is astounding. Since my interest lies in History, I wanted to confirm one detail that you have mentioned under the column "Glasgow/Scotland":

Albert Hudson, editor of Bible Study Monthly, a British Bible Student publication, says that the first organized meetings were in Glasgow starting in 1883. He presents no other details

However, I found some information mentioned by AO Hudson - when I was going through in the following link :

Now, in June 1882, little more than six months after the distribution of the booklet in this country, a dozen people in Glasgow, chiefly men folk, commenced to hold a regular meeting for the study and discussion of the Bible in this light. This was the first Bible Students’ meeting in this country, so far as records and recollection can tell. Rather appropriately, perhaps, it was a humble beginning. The organizer and leader of this initial meeting was apparently a man in a lowly walk of life—his name is lost to history—...

I am not sure but wanted to confirm from you which of the dates is accurate: 1882 or 1883.

It is absurd to think that the Bible ever had in mind anything other than the political powers of its own time in the second century BCE. Why should we today be the focus of all the attention?

Yes, the identity of the KON keeps changing because the empires that stepped in the role stopped existing altogether.

For e.g. t Nazi-Fascist Germany became the KON in 1919, because the Central Powers dissolved in 1918. Similarly, from 1945, the Soviet became the KON, because Nazi Germany was dissolved in 1944-45. Soviet ceased as the KON in 1991 because it disintegrated. I don't think there has been a time when the WT changed the identity of the KON while the empire was still in existence.

What we see here is a succession of empires that have stepped in the role of the KON.

"King of the North" is a title, same as what we call "The President of the USA" or "Pope". The title remains the same, but many individuals will fill in the roles in succession.

For e.g., when we say "The President of the USA had declared war on Nazi Germany", "The President of the USA had resigned due to the watergate scandal", "The President of the USA decided to build a wall on the border", we are here speaking about one title, but different individuals. The individual changes, the title remains.

I don't think WT has flip-flopped regarding the identity of the KON. Flip-flop means reversal, and I don't think WT has ever reversed itself here. , i.e. they told that USSR was the KON, but then told that it isn't- while USSR was still in existence.

JW detained in Putin's Russia ... accused of extremism

from bbc news "five jw's from the kirov region detained with about $ 7,500 accused of funding and organizing meetings....they found literature...and two hand granades and a landmine".

the russians are such idiots planting evidence....and quarrelling with the neutral and sheepish jw land...and of course inflamating their persecution complex.

It is amazing to me that JWs use their persecution in Russia as proof they are the true religion when there have been so many religions persecuted and banned before them and since them.

Interesting. Can you list down all the legally registered religious groups that have been declared as "extremists"? Not just persecuted, but legally declared as "extremists"? Please include only religions, not nationalist or fundamentalist groups.

Given that there was a time when they decided it wasn't the USSR and didn't know who it was, it's not only a demonstration of their flip flopping but that they are just guessing.

Interesting. Can you elaborate more on this? When was the time when they flip-flopped regarding the identity?

As far as I remember, in 1800's Germanic empire under Wilhelm was the KON, followed by Nazi Germany as the KON under Hitler before WW2, then followed by Communist bloc under the soviet union as the KON till it broke apart in 1991. When the Soviet disintegrated, WT announced that it would wait and see which empire assumes the identity of the KON.

I may be wrong, but I don't remember when they told that Soviet isn't the KON and they don't know who it is (both at the same time).

its been a minute since posting, have been trying to put this cult in my review mirror and just live life.

but you know this beast rears it's evil head.

my wife found my crisis of conscience book and out came the horns plus i guess what she is hearing at the meetings isn't helping either.

my question is, are they pushing Armageddon harder or the great tribulation harder than in the past.

Officially, the go bags are recommended by WT only in cases of disaster preparedness. Not Armageddon or GT.

i was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.

memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.

my jw family has even mentioned it.

They provide global totals for Memorial attendance, baptisms ,Bible Studies, hours reported preaching, pioneers - but not country-by-country breakdowns.

J.W.`s and Paradise and the Reality of it.

when god created adam and eve and put them in the garden of eden it was then up to them to cultivate and take care of it ,god had no further hand in it .the responsibility rested with adam/eve and their offspring.. the same would be true in the paradise to come ,god gets rid of all of us wicked people ,but then it is up to j.w.~s who are left on this earth to restore such a paradise.?

without god`s intervention.. think of it , this system is gone with all its infrastructure.. 8 million + j.w.`s scattered throughout the earth with.

no communication systems operating .
