I highly doubt that Morris just quit for health reasons and there was not a sorrow full announcement about it. Brother Morris has become ill bla bla bla. He was pushed out or he would be at Wallkill today. He obviously has a drinking issue and is most likely an alcoholic.

That could be one reason. Another could be that Morris was one of the very hard liners. As we watch this cult start to try to be less dictatorial or at least appear that way as secular criticism ramps up, he may have pushed back on the way the cult has tried to soften its image. Could be a combination of the two. It has been surprisingly quiet about this. No scuttlebutt from any good sources. One thing is obvious, he was given a home and most likely a stipend to live on.

Old WT books

so, here i am going through boxes and boxes of old wt literature.

i’m stacking it up from 1940’s to 1990’s.

i also have quite a few gems, like one 1917 studies in the scriptures.

Don't burn them or trash them. Put them up for sale on eBay or some other place. The finished Mystery of the studies in the scriptures sells for around $100 us. Or it used to. I see the 1934 year book was selling for upwards of a grand US. But now I see them go for around 350 US. They have value and there is a reason the JW cult does not provide anything pre 50s to the rank and file. Lots of crazy crap in those books.

Do JWs see the org falling apart?

i have been away from the jw cult for many years.

i don't have any family i talk to that are in it.

so i don't know if the jws as a whole are seeing the cult fall apart or if they or the majority of them are head in the sand la la la the end is neigh.

The JW cult has never ever in my years in helped anyone. When I was young and my wife and I were having issues, it was always here is a watchtower read it and pray. It was as useless as tits on a bore hog. There was an elder who was an Alcoholic and same crap. He lost his marriage then took his own life. The guy had a horrible life, his first JW wife ran off with a lounge singer, literally. His second wife was a good person but could not take the drinking. JWs are not allowed to go to AA or any other outside help. such a disgusting cult. They destroy everything they touch.

New to the forum. I have a question I did not get any feed back for on another site. Hope I can get a bit of insight. I was. a JW for many decades. I left 20 years ago. But I still have family in this cult.

One person is married and just after they were married they went to Iowa [where the need was great] and pioneered for many years, then went to Bethel and worked for many more years. they now are out of Bethel and back in Iowa. Still working for free for the cult.

My question is what do these people do when it comes to retirement? They have little to no Social Security built up, they put nothing away for retirement. I never bought into the idea that the cult is right and I did not know need to plan for a retirement that will never come. I worked with an elder in construction years ago that would say the time is so short that he will never need to retire. He saved nothing so he lives on Social Security and has to work 3 days a week to survive.

What to these people who gave decades working for free in Bethel when they are 60 plus years old. I have been out for many years but last I knew the cult does not give a dime for these peoples retirement. I would be interested to hear examples you may know of as to how these people live after the cult has no more use for them.
