I would like to rant about how I get really upset when I get some weak invitation back to the cult.
by schnell inmy mother wanted me to know that the co gave a talk that kinda-sorta reprimanded an elder in her hall.
he is not the reason i left at all, and this does not address anything to do with me or our family.. my mother-in-law sent me texts which i ignored and now she has sent a picture to my wife on facebook just for me, and it's a prodigal son meme that says, "you see the signs, come back it's not too late".. yeah, it's not too late to accept a global flood in 2370 bce, or that man was created in 4026 bce from a golem spell, or that an us-and-them cult mentality is at all healthy or loving, or that religion is going to be banned by the un, or that i should expect anyone else at the door to accept these stupid ideas in the information age.. what am i supposed to say?
i usually just ignore them, but before i do that, i see that shit and i storm into this weird internalized rage where i start writing a response and deleting it.

Schnell, you have every right to be upset. The only thing that might work, is standing above it. JW's can't face the knowledge that the truth is not the truth. On the long term we will win because time will prove us right but, we must accept that the ones who refuse to see are simply blind, too brainwashed and that sir, is very sad.

New to site...let me intro myself
by LarryCope infirst, i've been out of the organization for 20 years this very year!
i was baptized in 1979 and attended one of the lancaster ohio congregations.
realizing i was gay, i left and after being in the columbus gay community for 6 months, decided bar hopping and cruising was not my cup o' tea.i decided to return in late '90 and was reinstated in '91.

My Story
by WeatherLover ini'm a 4th generation jw.
i started to realize it wasn't the truth over 2 years ago in late october/early november 2014. i don't know how exactly it happened.
i remember i had just heard about confirmation bias, and it hit me: i realized that i would be guilty of confirmation bias if i didn't look at the other side.

Thanks for your story WeatherLover, I suggest you wait for the right moment to start your fade. Do it well and strategic in order to avoid as much pain in your family as possibly, but it will always hurt in one way or another. Your win (freedom) will be their loss, but it's YOUR life, especially when one day you will live on your own. Play the I-feel-weak/discouraged-card, avoid elders or at least keep your real thoughts to yourself and try to minimize your activity for the Borg. They'd rather have a weak, difficult-to-reach brother around than having to deal with an apostate. My first steps on the way to TTATT were triggered by looking for information regarding the Candace Conti's abuse case in 2012. Before that there have been accusations of sexual abuse in my congregation. The accusations luckily turned out to be false but it had put me on the same path to find truth instead of confirmation bias as you've pointed out and experienced yourself. My point...it took me 3 years to fully realise the impact of what I've investigated and to start my fade without fear or doubts. I wish that period would've been shorter, but hey, it explains if you know I'm 50 now! You however are in a different situation...good luck and very good you've looked for support here...it's an awesome forum!

Doctor Who > Anthony III has a facebook page also. Hahahahahahahaha. Just a few years ago, they would have been labeled "spiritually weak" for having one.
A few years ago while I was still in, one older brother told me privately that he would disfellowhip everyone with a facebook account. Of course he was no elder or MS but I'm not kidding, he was dead serious, no trace of sarcasm or humorous intent on his face. I'm so glad I'm out of WT's never never land.

How much money people usually donate to WT ?
by Bardamu ini grew up in the org and never got baptised, however i was wondering recently about how much money my family and old friends are wasting in all that.
.
i remember of course never talking in amounts, that it was important to give from what you can not what you have etc but i admit i have no clue how much the average witness gives (say in % of their income).. i'm sure it varies greatly, i'd love to hear what you guys have to say..

It has been a while that I did the administration. Automatic contributions would vary from 20 euro up to a weighty 180 euro (200 dollar) each month! A few years ago (while I was still in) one elder privately expressed his concern regarding the congregation's income if the old 180-euro-brother would die. I know this brother indeed has died very recently.
Of course there is always someone's will...don't know how much the WT will benefit from his death.

I respect your choice, good luck.
"Nothing that eliminates them from being God's directed people"?? Hmm... lying maybe? Including "proof" that we are living in the last days? Will you lie for the GB about that? Really?
Also remember that the bigger 1500y journey of the Israelites was a miserable one, filled with blood, wars, betrayal, politics, corruption, riots, imprisonment, exile and the rejection of Christ.

Reaching the most distant parts - Geoffrey Jackson praising Bible translators and missionaries as "faithful ones" or even "anointed ones"
by TheWonderofYou inafter we heard some time ago that before the time of russel there was no "faitful slave" or no anointed ones who formed a faitful slave class, now we learn that we dont know if before russel there were not "faitful ones" or "anointed".
indeed jackson says that we know the bible teaches that throughout the history there would be a large number of "sons of the kingdom" ..or anointed ones.. beginning from this month in several projects including a film about christian bible translators who gave an example of "faithfulness" and "discretness" in translating the bible, the christian bibletranslators and missionionaries who used "jehovah" by the way are receiving ultimate praise of the governing body, in the first place at the moment is shown the video about tyndale, wo so is very much supposedly a "faithful one" and perhaps even "anointed" because he loved the bible.. jackson says that those early missionaries of the christendom already "preached the message" before russell.
january broadcast.

Haven't watched it but with now even more anointed before Russell, wouldn't the 144,000 already have been sealed before the days of the modern day org? I know the whole thing is already a mess with the rising number of partakers, but hypothetically speaking...

An Obvious Omission in the J.W.'s Good News!
by The Searcher inas baptized or unbaptised witnesses, no one ever discussed or even mentioned (at least in my jw experience) this topic: .
"we are preaching about the good news of the kingdom.
why do we preach about only one hope - living on earth?
-
redpilltwice
Good point! Since the "new light" about two classes, the heavenly hope is only for those who are selected by Jehovah from already baptised witnesses. Any new biblestudent already claiming to be an anointed would be distrusted and viewed as unbalanced, too emotional, too puffed up, maybe even demonized by Babylon's unclean false doctrines, such as devote, passionate South-American style Catholicism. They already have too many "kings and priests", they only need more money from the other sheep, so why mention the heavenly hope more than absolute necessary?
