I hate to sound stupid, but how does one lend the society money? If they have 100 people who say they will lend them funds, do they sign promissory notes to all of those people, promising to pay back the money by a certain date? Otherwise, how would they know who lent the momey, and how could one prove the were the lender?

It is OFFICIAL they want MORE MONEY : NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
by raymond frantz ini just came back from the meeting .although the local announcements have been abolished recently as an item for the second part , an elder came on the platform to announce that the society needs more money and there is a letter on the noticeboard for all the congragation to read to this effect.
although the announcement was read half heartedly (this elder's daughter is an apostate ,it looks like he knows what's going on) the implictions are dramatic .
the society in brief, requests any brother or sister with funds sitting on personal accounts to loan them to the society ,he didn't go into any specifics but i will take a picture of the letter next time and make it available here .. i'm not amazed that they're asking for money ,i thought it will happen sooner or later .what i'm amazed is that 99% of the congragation are oblivious to the financial crisis that the society finds itself these days and the reasons why .i can see the future now .the watchtower will be the fist part of the babylon the great to go down in a blaze of scandals and financial troubles !.

I'm beginning to lose it!!! Update on my situation
by marriedtoajw ini've posted on here at times in moments of dispair and anguish over what is happening in my life being married to a jw.
i've everperienced countless moments of depression, anxiety and even entertained suicidal thoughts.
suicidal thoughts at one time to me was unthinkable and a sure sign of desperation.

Married, I am going to jump ahead here because I am cutious about this and ask you if you wife was also too intoxicated to drive when you got your DUI? If she was, that is a no-no in jw land.( even tho they do get intoxicated anyway). If she was sober, why wasn't she driving? Married, you have been given some excellent advice here. I hope you can heed some of it, especially finding affordable counseling and AA if your drinking is still an issue. It sounds as though you have been an excellent father and husband. You have seen to it that your children have had experiences outside of the normal jw childhood program, and they will thank you for that one day, I'm certain! Your 21 y.o. son is a young adult who has to make his own decisions and sometimes life is the best teacher. I seriously doubt his grandparents will allow him to live there jobless for very long. It hurts when they grow up, your feelings are normal. Please continue to keep your younger ones occupied with non-jw activities, and, if possible, find a church you like and begin attending, insisting that the children go with you every other time. Exert your headship status when your wife objects. It sounds like you have been very complacent during your entire marriage, so this will be a shock to her. Do study the doctrines so you can be prepared to defend why you are going. Many churches have people who will help you with understanding the Bible, and their doctrines. Hopefully you will be able to keep your other children from becoming too involved in the jw's. It may be time for your wife to finally pitch in financially with a part time job if you are working 50-60 hour weeks and are still having a hard time. I realize it is difficult for someone who has not worked in years to find a job, but retailers and some other places will hire Moms going back into the work place. Something is better than nothing, and I know more than a few women who have had to do this. All the best to you. Be strong!

Please don't do it. It will blow up in your face. Please take some of the excellent suggestions you have been given here and use them. You will have a far better chance of waking up your wife and other loved ones if you are slow, calculated and well armed with information.
Kind of sounds like you are getting sick of playing their game. Can't blame you for that. Just continue to use this forum to vent while you slowly fade and work on your wife. You are much more likely to get the results that you want! You deserve that much!

When you were a jw-new light & the doors?
by carla inwhen you were a jw and lets say a topic at the door came up and you went into great detail explaining something only to have 'new light' come out shortly aftwards, did you feel any obligation to go back to the door and explain that you have a 'new understanding' or were in error?.
today we know that there will be new light re: the fds being only the gb and not the anointed.
new light from above!

Yes, absolutely check into community college! It will probably make a world of difference for you, and set a great example for your daughter. You will find many adults who are going back at the community college as well. It's not just JW's who need to upgrade their skills out there. Just don't make the mistake of taking on a full class load to start. That would be overwhelming for someone with a family, a job,who has to attend the kh and do field service. It might discourage you from continuing with your education.
Those adults that started college a bit older (myself included), start with one class to get their feet wet, and then take two classes a semester after that. It takes a little longer that way, but you can always take 1 class in the Summer as well. Your local college should be able to give you an apptitude test to see where your strengths and interests are. That might help you in deciding which road to take.
If you are given grief over going back, can you simply tell them that you cannot do construction your whole life, and need to provide for your family? Just don't talk about it to the jw's. I know women who have gone back as jw's, and they just didn't care if anyone liked it or not. One even went for her Master''s. Both had to provide for themselves/families, and simply did not discuss it. I guess it depends somewhat on the type of congo your in. Hope it all works out for you! It will be the best thing you do for yourself and your daughter. Have a great weekend. DATA-DOG!

Hello everyone
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini have been trying to get on with my life without jehovah's witnesses and my mom.
just to let you know briefly about me......i was pretty much raised a jw by my mom.
she never let me know my dad because he was "worldly" and was going to die soon.

Sorry for your pain, Strawberry. As happy@last and perfect1 said, hold onto the nice memories, but please move on. Your Mom is brainwashed by this high control religion, and it has affected your life enough already. You have others in your life who love you and who you love. Let that be your focus, and be happy. By continuing to hope for your Mom's approval, you allow the WT to have some control over YOUR life. Regroup, and place your focus elsewhere on things that you can control. I am sure your Mom loves you, she is just brainwashed. Life is short, enjoy it!

Kate82, please don't go down that road. Do thorough research, especially on the sites others have recommended. Read Crisis of Conscience. Becoming a jw is absolutely one of the biggest regrets of my life. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE TRUTH!!

DO Brown Payne tells SA audience Serena Williams "disciplined" by her local elders for swearing on TV
by oppostate inat today's special assembly in natick ma, bro brown payne annouced to the audience that serena williams was disciplined by her local elders for her swearing escapade on tv.. saying: "can jehovah's witnesses swear like that on tv?
" then he told the audience that she was "disciplined" by the elders of the congregation she's a publisher in.. doesn't this smack of revealing the private business of another person?
the most the local elders could have said was "a matter concerning serena williams has been handled by the elder body".

He was probably told to say something as Serena Williams is a very public figure and speaks openly of her jw beliefs. All the while she is swearing, dropping the f bomb, and wears sometimes very revealing clothes, including a see thru shirt she was photographed in. Considering the time she has to put in practicing, playing tournaments, and is photographed on vacation or doing other fun things( i.e., living a NORMAL life), how much fs time do you think she puts in, how many meetings does she miss?
My guess is that people who have been publicly reproved for the same things or lesser offenses, make all the meetings and do fs weekly were starting to complain about the unfairness of it all, and so something had to be said to appease those. After all, don't they tell everyone that everyone is equal in the truth? NOT!!
