Another Family Escapes Their Clutches
by OnTheWayOut inmy coworker actually was involved in training me, and i used to be a quiet good little jw when he met me.
i first shared information about him on this forum 7 years ago when he was just starting to learn that i was no longer going to the kingdom hall.

I've become bold
by skeeter1 ini totally discovered ttat in 2004.. at first, i told my jw relatives each & every thing i found out.
they didn't appreaciate it.. then, i read coc and realized that that was the wrong approach.
so, from about 2007-2013, i rarely said anything to them abou the jws.. well, i just don't care any more to pussy foot around them, making nice, and smiling.

JW's can carry guns. The jw son of a jw woman I still have some contact with recently became a state trooper.
Not certain he will accomplish much with this video, but it does show the men to be kind of ridiculous. They look cultish, like they have something to hide.

Boiling mad-need to vent!
by 3rdgen ini have had to remove my rant because hubby doesn't want the jw realatives to retaliate again..

It's not fair that you can't let loose here, but you have to pick your battles, I suppose. Is there someone you could vent to on the phone, or email or pm just to let off steam? It doesn't seem like you need input, you just need to let your frustration out.
My sympathies are with you, 3rdgen.

Getting kicked out.
by bobert insometime this week.
my parents are getting a lot of heat from the congregation, and tension in my house was already super high.
i know it's inevitable.

Can you speak with your parents about coming to some kind of agreement that will allow you to stay for, say, another 4 months to allow you to be better prepared to move? That would give you some time to save some money. May I ask your age? I am assuming that you are a minor if they are legally responsible for you still. Pointing out that for now it would be more affordable for them to allow you to stay, and just be cordial to each other might be a good idea.
You mentioned in an earlier post that you were planning on moving out. Was that because your parents were talking about you leaving due to pressure from the congregation? It sounds like they have a buttinski type of congregation. There are those that allow families to deal with their own issues. Do they have the backbone to tell them to back off, that they are dealing with the situation and praying about it? I wish you all the best.

I so don't miss this! But if anyone is hungry after, go to Greektown! The Parthenon has great food, and at Santorini's(also great food) the front is all glass doors that they open in nice weather and there are some real characters that stroll by. There are a few more, all good!

Going to family outing with a bad JW
by TTWSYF ini'm not a jw nor is my entire family save for my brother, his wife and kids.
we are celebrating our grandparents 50th anniversary.. one of my brother's kids is living with his girlfriend and as a result, the rest of his immediate {jw} family is shunning him.. what, if anything do you think that i could do or say to get his (jw) family to see how awful their behavior is?.
i am asking for suggestions to get these people to think.. .

Not sure you can say too much here. Maybe point out what a poor witness they are giving by being so judgemental and unloving in their behavior towards their own son? When others see that type of behavior, it turns them off to witnesses?

How many *educated* adults are being converted into the Jehovah's Witnesses nowadays?
by EdenOne inthe other day i was sitting in one of those meetings where the public talk was absolutely mind-dumbing.
by minute 5 i couldn't take it anymore paying further attention to what was being said, so my mind wandered.
i looked around to my own kh and started to notice something.

I know of 1. She was an educated woman raised in the south as a baptist who became a convert. Her ( now ex) husband, who grew up a witness, suggested she look into it as she was searching religions (he was not a jw, his family was), and got her Master's degree while a witness. She and her son are still witnesses (he recently became a police officer), but her daughter bailed. She and her ex husband made sure their kids received higher education. So I guess that would be 2, including her son.
