  Banned words in the organization

  i was talking to my sister in law the other day about death, and i mentioned something about the afterlife, i don’t remember what i said but it was nothing shocking .

  but she squealed, “we don’t believe in the afterlife!

  !” and i reasoned, well we kinda do...life after death is the after life..and she just insisted no no it’s not the same thing.

  and to get the attention of jw use the word separated in your convo and watch for eyes even at a distance like across the kh in my case to turn to you.

  To explain my wife had been collared by sister yakalot at the doorway of the kh so i was a seen entering 'on-my-own'. I took the opportunity and used separated and of sisters (!) close swung eyes. and another from across the hall ditto.

  Witnesses are obsessed with others marriages and a single person must be bursting with sexual desire so will be a fornication danger!

  i wanted to reply that we used vacation for conventions and important stuff..

  This was pretty good coming from them who dont have kids and i said so at the time.

  I recall this holiday comment and hearing the big"Whuh?" that came from the audience.

  watching in on my wife's zoom meeting last night, there was an item about discipline is love.

  they played a 'caleb' animated cartoon and then the instructions were 'if possible, ask selected young children' several questions.. it seems however, that there are no children in my wife's current congregation so the questions were all answered by retired brothers and sisters.

  the congregation mainly consists of elderly people (like us) and the few of childbearing age seem not interested in having children.

  i’ve noticed a change in family attitude recently, like there is just something extra on their mind.

  i even had to call my brother to check if he was dying and too scared to tell me.

  anyway, i saw a video last night my saying jws think we only have 12 months left before armageddon so thought maybe this is the reason for changes attitude.

  Do You Still Easily Believe Everything?

  to be a witness you had to accept whatever spiritual food was being dished out.

  even if it didn’t make any sense, we were expected to believe.

  now that we are out of the cult, do you find yourself a person who doesn’t just accept the status quo?

  Where there any cases where members should not have been at the meeting but still managed to attend?

  no matter if you are tired, sick, worked late, trudging through heavy snow, or any other reason, you were never to miss the meetings.

  missing meetings is frowned upon.. i once went to a 2 day assembly with 2 wisdom teeth pulled the day before.

  Marriage.

  recall a couple who attended a Thursday meeting after being married on the Saturday before.

  a family who went on holiday but drove back apx 100 kilometres to the Thursday meeting then went back to their holiday the next day.

  At the KH being victim to kids with cough, snotty noses and barking coughs.....often.

  Do You Know Of Anyone That Has Seen A Therapist Because Of Being A Witness?

  i really don’t know of many people who got into therapy because of their jw dealings but i would think that if someone remains depressed or severely affected by their past witness life, it’s not a bad idea to speak to someone to get you on the right path.

  i think this site has been very therapeutic for many over the years..

  It is vital to ask any counsellor you intend to go to if they are experienced with cults. If they are not they are likely to see the wt as just another religion.
