My mother is trying to indoctrinate my 4 year old and I do not know what to do
by jwfacts inmy mother lives a plane trip away from me, so does not get to spend very much time with zac.
however, she is in sydney for 3 weeks and has been babysitting.
i knew that she would be talking about jehovah, but was very annoyed yesterday when zac said my mother was speaking all day about jehovah, such as how he made the stars.. in the past, i was not overly concerned if zac learnt about jehovah's witnesses, as i thought it would help with critical thinking skills to understand different points of view.

I don't know if I can add more that what was already said but you definitely need to have a clear and firm set of boundaries given to your mother. Before that, you need to discuss it clearly with your wife so you both can be in agreement. As others have said, you need to talk to your son. There is no way to really insulate and protect our children against the outside world. I hate to think of children being used as a tool by anyone. Grandparents have a lot to offer and if they need to be supervised then so be it.

Is the WTS and the JW's going to collapse in 2014?
by braincleaned intwo years to go, and an embarrassing whole century will have gone by after 1914 -- the date of armageddon.
in no world is that a "short period of time".... .
let's put things in perspective, since the wts claims to be the channel god has choosen.

People want to believe that they can live without dying, they can grown younger and healthier instead of older and sicker. That is a powerful drug. As long as people keep wanting the fantasy that they provide, they will find a way to ignore the facts.

Do COs have a cushy life?
by A question indo cos (and dos) have a cushy life in comparison with other jws, or others in fulltime service?.
it could be said that they do, since they have an apartment provided for them, meals out, green handshakes, and invites to social gatherings.
it could also be said that they do not, since they may have to live in a different house every week, accept whatever food they're given, and they have a lot more meetings than the average jw.. .
-

I wouldn't consider it a cushy life. However, it does have "perks" in the theocratic sense. They are considered to be like the apostle Paul in their own minds. I keep hearing about "green handshakes" but I never gave one to any WT representative. Maybe growing up a JW made me "cheap".

What is the protocol when the memorial falls on the same night as the TMS/BS meeting
by insearchoftruth inwill the tms/bs get rescheduled?
?.

This year the US branch indicated that, where possible, the meeting should be rescheduled. So it will be an extra busy week with the special talk coming right after as well.

Remarrying, then paradise =problem?
by Inisc inthis is a question i always wondered about and never got an answer to.. its also another reason why i'm finding it harder to believe in an 'afterlife'.. th idea that humans can live forever, now seems so scientificly impossible.. so i wanted to ask all the great minds on here,.
if someone's spouse dies, and then they remarry, then armageddon comes and goes then the deceased is resurrected,.
how,is that ever gonna work?
-
wisdomfrombelow
If people were to sit and think about the JW resurrection hope they might well make different choices. If a woman wants to have a child, why put it off and then never have one? People who think that paradise will come at a great time to solve all their problems never want to think about the possibility that it won't. And then what?

Flash Mob at the Kingdom Hall
by wisdomfrombelow inwouldn't it be interesting if dozens of people showed up at a kingdom hall as part of a flash mob, not being disorderly, but to make a statement.
maybe all raising their hands on a particular question and giving a "real comment" instead of restating the paragraph.
or they could all leave if when one of the paragraphs says "internet bad...ignorance good".

College and the Watchtower: Remember One Thing
by metatron inif any of you lurkers listen to a rant by the society against college, remember one thing:.
the brother giving the talk is probably an utter hypocrite.. there are a few exceptions but consider that many elders are financially secure - which allows them to be elders.
while they talk about not planning for the future because armageddon 'is so close', they have pensions, ira's, roth accounts and investments.

I wonder how the congregations in university towns handle all this anti-college negativity?

Regular pioneering ... not going to college or university is a wise decision that will make you happy. Watchtower June 15, 2012
by wannabefree infrom - the watchtower (simplified) june 15, 2012 pg.
25 par.
15. what goal should a young christian have while he is in school?.
-
wisdomfrombelow
I know of many who have gone to college and then after graduation decided to to pioneer. Those often got higher paying jobs with benefits so they could remain pioneering if they wanted to. That scenario will never be mentioned in the Watchtower.
