Just got in again and checked your thread. I appreciate the time your taking to reply to my questions and I don't mean to keep tossing more at you but with every reply sparks another question in my mind.
So may I ask another.

If I am understanding you correctly you are telling me that you believe the 144,000
to be literal rather then symbolic. I can follow that, no problemo,but, you threw me at
this point:

[[[[ 2. Revelation 5:9, 10, which states that this nation would be of kings and priests would be "bought from the earth" and taken out of EVERY nation, tribe, tongue and people...]]]]

Now would not this be referring to "The Little Flock"?
Who would be "Kings and Priests" over the Great Crowd?
That doesn't seem to correlate with being a literal Israel but seems to fit with the theory that this would be referring to a symbolic Israel since the Little Flock according to the verse says they will be taken from every nation and tribe and peoples and toungs.

And also if the 144,000 is actually literal Israel then wouldn't they ALL be in heaven already? There would be nothing left to fulfill in regard to that prophecy.

MILLOINS FOR WHAT????????

ok;this has been really annoying me for ages now...why are they stock piling their millions?.

they have so much, and get even more by making congs pay for their own halls/assembly halls,conventions blah,blah,blah;why do they hoard it?.

i know they don't like giving to charity, so that's not it.... i know they hav'nt increased the bethel staffs' wages, so that's not it.... i know they don't take 50,000 salaries, so that's not it.... they don't think they'll need it in the new system, so that's not it.... they know they're not supposed to store up treasures on earth,so that's not it.... their members say because of charitable status their accounts are open to inspection, so therefore many will know how much they have.. what the bloody hell do you think they are doing?.

I couldn't even begin to imagine what they do with all that money but I do know they do not get money from ALL kingdom Halls. A lot LOT of KH's can't pay all there own bills and they get money from HQ to make up the difference. They also get money from HQ to pay for remodeling some. What ever is not donated by each KH's members they have to make up the difference somewhere so they use HQ as a 'S&L' and borrow. Don't know if they collect at a discount rate or not?

Overeating

it is intersting that the bible does not speak specificly about things like smoking, blood tranfusions, etc, which the watchtower will expell its own members over.. yet the bible does speak specificly about over eatingit even goes on to say that such people will not inherit the kingdom.

yet from my experience in the organisation many witnesses would over-eat(few pleasures left when you got your head in a book all the time) and many were clearly overweight and suffering for it!.

this led to all sorts of health problems for them from back trouble to heart disease, yet i never heard of any being dissfellowshiped on the grounds of gluttony/overeating!!.

I Totally Agree. I use to feel real guilty for smoking. Use to hide it and never went to the meetings right after i had a cigg. I would get out of the shower, gargle, get dressed and go then after the meeting was over leave and light up. Real Stupid!!!
I would see so many things people would do that TO ME of all people was "unexceptable" but I felt guilty for smoking.

I saw a program on 'Discovery' about a community of senior citisens who drank wine everyday and smoked "tabacco" everyday and they had PERFECT health.
It was some kinda 'fanominin' (spell Ck)
Anyway researchers think it has to do with there 'diet' and the way they prepare there food.
They suffer NO arthritis. No cancer of ANYKIND. there lungs are CLEAR.The average age was betweem 60 and 100+ years old. Really cool program.

How much trust do you put in others?

how much of what we know is built on trust in others?.

when you examine what you believe and why you believe it , how much is built on trust that information you read or hear is correct?.

of course none of us have time to check every thing out and it seams perfectly reasonable to me for us to have to trust others.. but we have all been burnt in the past.. sometimes what initally seams reasonable turns out to be false.. prehaps we can look at the methods used by people to see whether research is trust worthy.. but unless we personnaly can test these methods how can we vouch for them?.

Sunday Family Dinner...Come and get It!!

hey guys,every sunday i have a family dinner.family and friends are welcome,including dubs who can leave their religion outside my door.the house is alive with laughter,conversation,people playing video games,surfing the net,and watching the newest movie out.i have to start cooking early,so when people start arriving they can smell dinner cooking.before dinner there are appetizers,cold beer,wine,and a nice bottle of 12 year old whiskey for the gents.its always a fun time for everyone and it helps keep the family together.does anyone else have a day they put aside for the family?..

vi was one of those jw's that was an absolute angel.

i never gave up on them because of people like her and my mums other friend of 20 odd years, chris.

she's a legend too, only suffering cronic fatigue!.
