in view of the recent ban in russia, and the statement that the government feels that the wts is considered harmful and dangerous, my thoughts are these;
i think that anyone or anything that purposely tampers with the very fabric of people's families, is dangerous, but that's just the way i see it.
maybe this sounds extreme, but then the watchtower society is extreme, and too, i speak from personal experience.. .
gopher
It's frustrating, but it's part of the price we pay for living in a free society.
Absolutely! At some point we have to take responsibility for what we chose to do with our lives like it or not. Just speaking from experience, as someone raised in the religion and witnessed many things that caused me to think twice about continuing any longer.
It is very true that there is a brainwashing effect that takes place over time and leaving is not an easy thing to do ESPECIALLY when one has family and close friends who are still associated with or members of the WTS. BUT nevertheless, we have to make the best decisions we can for ourselves.
I personally am very thankful to be able to make my own choice. Far to many people in this world don?t have that luxury and I think those of us that do have a tendency to take that for granted.

Women Barred From Holy Thursday Ritual
Wed Apr 7,12:45 AM ET
Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo! ATLANTA - Women will not be allowed to participate in Holy Thursday foot-washing rituals at Roman Catholic churches in Atlanta. In a letter to the archdiocese's priests, Archbishop John Donoghue said only 12 men at each parish should be selected for the ritual, which represents Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper.
Donoghue, his staff and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops refused to comment on the issue Tuesday.
However, the Conference of Catholic Bishops' Web site states: "It has become customary in many places to invite both men and women to be participants in this rite of recognition of the service that should be given by all the faithful to the church and to the world."
Catholic churches in Atlanta, where Donoghue has been in charge since 1993, have included women in the foot-washing rite for years.
Several women said they plan a protest Thursday at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta, where the archbishop will preside over Holy Thursday Mass.
"We'll stand in solidarity, and we'll sing and we'll pray," said Lalor Cadley, who organizes Catholic retreats and workshops.
Donoghue sparked a similar protest 15 years ago when he banned women from foot washing in Charlotte, N.C.
Several priests in Atlanta did not immediately return telephone messages left at their offices by The Associated Press.
Priests are bound by a vow of obedience to follow their archbishop's orders and generally are prohibited from openly criticizing those orders.
"A shepherd who cares only for the rams won't have a flock for very long," said Kathleen Pruitt of Bremen, Ga., who attends several Catholic churches.

A BAPTIST CHURCH SEIZED BY U.S. GOVERNMENTOn February 15, 2001 U.S. Marshals occupied and seized the building of the Indianapolis Baptist Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana. The worshippers were forcibly removed from the building. Those unwilling to leave while praying were overpowered and carried out on stretchers. The church was taken over by the Internal Revenue Service - the U.S. taxation department - allegedly for unpaid taxes amounting to $5.7 million.

I agree!
But Iraq was not exactly a vacation resort to begin with like you seem to think.
well i went last night...........did anyone else notice how the talk focused almost exclusively on the 144,000???
jesus was barely mentioned.
the first couple of minutes talked about when the israelites left egypt and the passover was instituted.
Absolutely NO reading of the actual Last Supper, Judas' betrayal, Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsamine, His arrest, trial and executiion----NOTHING!!! I specifically remember years ago that ALL of these things were the topic at the Memorial, as that is supposed to be what the event is about. While the 144,000 has always been mentioned, it NEVER used to be the frigging main theme! I was particularly disgusted last night. Jesus died for us, it's the one time of the year at the Hall where the focus should be exclusively on HIM, and he's barely mentioned!! Did anyone else who went notice this?
After reading a few threads here and there on this topic I am glad I didn't attend.
The memorial I attended that I remember being engaging, due to a abnormally good speaker, was I think 1996. It might have been ?97 but I think it was ?96.
Otherwise I can't remember any speaker during all the others in the last couple of decades doing the memorial any justice.
may you all have peace!.
it was spirit that was put into that "soul"... and the spirit... that "sins"... must be destroyed.
but his spirit did not die nor was it destroyed.
During the "talk", the "brother" read from the outline a statement that said, in effect, that for some time the Christ was "out of existence," that in dying, God TOOK him out of existence... and let him BE out of existence... for a time.
I missed the memorial at the KH this year and last year as well.
Last year I felt guilty
This year I don't

tonight, or last night since its early morning now, i stayed home and watched the annual release of "the ten commandments" .
i was just wondering, since there was never any real mention of the use of scribes during moses day and they were basically put to use after moses posted all those laws, who was writing all this stuff down every time the pharaoh said "so let it be written, so let it be done.
i don't recall seeing one scribe in that movie!
God dictated the whole thing.
Thats right. Isn't this secretaries week? I wonder what Moses Got for God? Oh wait, Moses was tossed out and lost his privileges.
In at least one scene there is a scribe. He's behind Brenner to his right. The guy is kneeling and has a reed and papyrus.
I thought he was tieing his shoe.
