Origins of Jehovahs Witnesses.
by vomit inquite a weird basic question but does jwism originate from protestantism or catholicism.
i know they came esentialy from the aventists but they themselves hide their original leanings.
as far as i can tell, especaily with looking for loopholes they do lean towards protestantism.

My impression is that they are trying to make out that they are something out of the ordinary, an organisation that links back to the apostolic church without the links being present.
I would agree with that.

Are Apostates "Obsessed" with Jehovah's Witnesses?
by booker-t ini was talking with my friend the other day and he was telling me that he was going to several kh to debate with jw's elders to look in their libraries and show jw's the "cover ups" from their own books etc; this man has "no life" except debating with jw's.
i feel enough is enough!
when are apostates going to just let it go?

PROTESTants---all the way.
My mom (anointed) would refer to herself sometimes as a "True" catholic, under her breath or in a jokingly manner, but yet very serious about it. Figure that out.

Why do they always choose present-day characters to fulfill what they want to believe?
Bad habits are hard to break; I guess that would include always listing.
luring in followers with something that has immediate value
People do tend to look for instant gratification in just about everything. The problem with following the wts is there is never any, but people still look for it. It would be interesting to see how many people have left over the years in comparison to how many have joined. I consider myself someone that inherited it I didn’t join. I have a hard time invisioning myself 'joining' on my own. I don't know what it would take to get me to listen to someone at my door and convince me to join a religion. I gotta give the wt credit for that. I wouldn't even buy a vacume from a door to door salesman. My husband did, it would even buff the car!

because Jehovah would be disappointed if they used the hall ...
The "HALL" has taken on more importance then the people or anything else on earth. It's ok to have a funeral anywhere ELSE under god just not in the hall. -

Do you think a JW childhood is abusive?
by Konrad West ini had a long discussion the other day with my new flatmate, who it turns out has studied with jws and thinks they're wonderful, about my view that being raised a jw is psychologically abusive.
being indoctrinated with the concept of jehovah killing people who don't do what he says and being scared of losing your friends and family if disobedient is, in my view, a very unhealthy thing for a child.
any thoughts?
