so for our "congregation book study", we are still deeply mired in the bible teach book.
this week's lesson talks about the whole idea that the book of job relates the central issue of the entire cosmos, a vital issue raised by satan, where satan questions whether humans follow god because of what they are given, or because he deserves it.
i'm surprised that the book of job, obviously archetypal and figurative (for example, i doubt people back then literally spoke for hours in hebrew verse, and i doubt that four messengers showed up all in a row with stories telling that they, only they, got away to tell of a disaster) even has a place in the canon; aside from its lack of any specific historical position or accuracy, the argument it advances (especially as the society interprets it) is facile: the idea that privileged, wealthy, powerful job somehow stands as a representative for all humanity and serves as a litmus test for man's interaction with god is downright silly.

The entire Job...metaphore? never made much sense as though Jehovah really needed to prove something to Satan about what it or isn't in a mans heart.

the wts promotes the idea that in the "new system" members of the great crowd, who are not resurrected, will be able to marry and have children.. but what about those that are resurrected?.
does the wts apply matt 22:23-30 to people resurrected on earth?
(the passage is obviously applied to people who were pre-new covenant).

i can't understand why the rank and file can't see who is really causing the pain by seperating loved ones over personal beliefs.. one woman says about her disfellowshipped brother, "this has been so hard for me to bear because in every other respect, he has been a wonderful brother to me.
i especially miss him at large gatherings.".

The studies for last week and this week are about Job from the Aug 15 WT so they probably won't have this study until next month sometime. I didn't get the Sept 1 issue...yet.

it seems that only the resuurected will receive new bodies and the creaking decrepit old Dubs will wander around for 1,000 in their decrepit earthly bodies.
It was my understanding the creaking decrepit old Dubs will grow to perfection during the course of a thousand years.

What would be the point in saying that? Why would she be happier if she did not re-marry? They never finish explaining the meaning of a scripture but stop in the middle of it or once it fits.

neither can they die anymoreDoesn?t applying this passage to those with ?earthly? hope go against what they teach about the resurrection because being resurrected to an earthly existence doesn?t mean you still can?t be destroyed after the thousand years are up and Satan is released for a short time. What?s he being released for if it isn?t to mislead and take as many with him as he can when he goes? Are they applying this to ONLY those that survive Armegeddon?

people who were raised jws, really worry that they are doing the right thing in leaving, yet who have been made to feel not good enough by the wts, who felt they never measured up, who struggled with it, but came to realize that what they'd been brought up to believe was just not the truth.. the same stories are told over and over again, and they come from sincere, good people - not whiny, fault-finding apostates like the rest of us riffraff around here!
