  The Predictions Thread

  i thought it might be interesting and fun to have a "predictions thread", where we set out our predictions for events to unfold concerning the watch tower society (or jehovah's witnesses in general) over the coming years/decades.. it strikes me that so much has happened in the last ten years, most of which has defied expectations.

  here's just a few of the developments that i can think of:.

  the abolishment of group book studies in favor of a "family worship evening"the creation of a "study edition" watchtowerthe halving of monthly magazine printing commitmentsthe unprecedented closure/merging of branches (16% reduction in branches last year)the menlo park scandal, a body of elders removed for resisting a refurb of their kingdom hallthe lawsuits in victoria, australia - the society taken to court concerning child protection lawscourtroom admissions about the faithful & discreet slave and similarities with the catholic churchincreased hate speech against "mentally diseased" apostatesastonishing lapses of judgment, such as the "selma and steve" study articlethe ditching of gilead as a school for missionariesambitious construction plans for a new world hq (with or without jehovah's blessing!

  occasionally there are threads or posts that deal with what punishment or sanction is to be expected when one submits to a blood transfusion.

  the real answer to that question is two-fold as it all depends on the person's attitude and whether or not they show remorse.

  if that's the case, the individual will definately lose their prvileges and maybe even a vague announcment will be made to the congregation that the elders have had to assist the individual with a spiritual matter.

  my mom's kh was built last year with a loan from wts.

  she was talking about a letter to all congregations with loans from wts.

  the letter was asking the publishers how much they can pay towards a refinance.

  Publishers do not put into the box the amount of money they have originally promished due to economic crisis and so you have all those letters from the society to make them feel guilty and put more.

  I was reading an interesting book talking about circumcision and how it was NOT Jewish in origin

  it may have actually been egyptian (perhaps much older), but the jews borrowed the tradition from the egyptians.

  it was a way for a small priest and ruler minority to alter their physical appearance in line with the "gods".

  it was a mark that made this small ruling class "godlike" and different than the rest of the populace... hmmm, interesting.

  the original soft tissues, blood vessels, cells and blood components [shown above] in a supposed 65 million year old t. rex dinosaur published in 2005 shocked the secular community, but not literal bible believers.

  the stench of rotting flesh could still be smelled.. the chart below is a list of all kinds of things that are supposed to be hundreds of millions of years old , yet the evidence is consistent with a literal biblical view of only thousands of years old.. .
