Affected by assembly

hi - first some context - i have been pimo for about 20 years now and so have been to a lot of assemblies in that time.

last weekend i went to a circuit assembly and for the first time afterwards i was able to talk directly to someone who knows i'm out.

i realised then that although i didn't agree with any teachings (i sat picking holes in the arguements as usual) the experience of being there had affected me - the way of life started feeling normal as did the overall way of viewing the world.

I find myself affected if I watch the society’s videos. I still find them somewhat persuasive.

However in the March video when Gerrit Lurch mumbled on about trusting him I was able to break free. Actually I felt nauseous.

The safest way to watch jw videos is through Cedars.

I haven’t been to any meetings of any kind for over twelve months now and I notice that my wife hasn’t been out in field service this month, although we haven’t discussed it. She watched the CTV w5 program on her iPad and it affected her as it wasn’t just me rambling on. I live in hope.

Decades of suppressing information that didn’t seem quite right, the brawling and fighting within the congregation, but most of all the ridiculous seven paragraph WT piece on the overlapping generations with no scriptures.

has your hatred of the organization been an effort to avoid dealing with your pain?

There are days when I become depressed.

The cause is probably tiredness or the pressures of life, however I have noticed that I tend to blame it on my decades of cult experience.

No matter how much I try to get things straight in my mind I find the hatred increasing and I have to watch what I say around my wife. The best therapy is some sort of hard labour on my little property.

Just an example of how I am affected. The next day I will probably be fine.

I am not going this year. I have told a few that if I do go I will partake.

Last year the wine was cloudy and looked “off” or whatever.

I am beginning to wonder if anyone really cares or perhaps they are just going through the motions.

I have noticed that in the last few years there is a distinct lack of “zeal” for any activity, perhaps because we sold the kh 9 years ago and now there is no new one and no money either. Sad isn’t it I don’t think.

this thread is prompted by losch's stupid 'decrees' in the march 2018 broadcast, where he denounced online information that may be 'negative' about the organization.. it strikes me that the gb are so dumb!

the moment someone says "dont look at something", human curiousity will make most people look.

Religious PTSD

i have been clear now for 22 years but i am still obsessed.

after going on and on about my experiences to friends and family i have finally realised that no one is interested.. they have won.

no one cares about my ptsd or my suicide attempts or my alcohosm.. i have no one to talk to about this but i really need to get the infection out of my system because it is killing me..

We all have periods in our life when we need professional help.

check for helpline phone numbers who will redirect you if they feel it is appropriate.

there is no need for anyone in this day and age to feel that they have to tough it out or whatever.

Get some help which means advice and support in coping with a difficult situation.

My last Memorial

i missed my first memorial last year in 60 years.

it always amazed me on this special night that the jw's forget how to park their cars in the parking lot.

i would pull in with my wife and there are 5 brothers giving directions on where and how to park my car.

For many decades I used to think I was the only person in existence who saw how ridiculous the whole ceremony was.

I met a bro and sis at the Sunday flea market this morning, really nice people who want me to attend the memorial this year. I calmly explained that I feel we are all Christ’s Brothers and that I would have to partake and it would cause comment.

Bro said that I should partake if I felt that I should. Sis did everything except embrace me to encourage me to come.

They are genuinely nice people but I realise that they are are totally deluded. This causes so much emotional pain all around.

I have come to really loath the organisation but I still realise that I have to continue with my softly softly approach in order to help people.

It isn’t easy being one of exjws.

My wife asked me if I was going and I calmly told her that as we are all Christ's brothers I would have to partake and this might be embarrassing for her and those who know me which is most of the cong. She is becoming curious now as to where I get all my info. I told her that most comes from the inconsistencies and changes in the watchtower such as overlapping generations with no scriptural backup. There is still hope.

we were talking with a friend who is in a different area and they mentioned that their present kingdom hall building used to be a church before the brothers bought it cheaply and renovated it.

"of course," john then said, "it'll be dedicated to jehovah after all the work is done so even if everyone in the community still call it the old church, we'll know it is jehovah’s place of worship.

hadn't consciously thought about it until now, but isn't it hypocrisy to (re)dedicate a church and it becomes ok for the witnesses to use.

Where I live in Aus it was never a big deal. In the 70s when we were looking to build a kh, an elder said to me that a local old church would do if the price was right. His comment was that “we would have to get the spooks out of it”.

We sold our kh in town where I live near now to the Salvation Army some 8 or 9 years ago. You can guess who now has the money and the large block of land we bought as a replacement site. Also my wife informed me recently that they are not building the new hall that was “approved” 12 months ago. No one who knows the full story is happy about it. She is even starting to ask me questions about where I get my info from. I know more about what is going on than she does.

i'm teaching a class right now and my students' desktop computer is showing microsoft word upside down.

we share documents between our two computers but cannot because of this crazy turn of events.. any ideas?.
