Wow just got off the phone with a good friend who shared this good news. I just had to pop on to see what was being said. JakeM2012 you are dead on. The court sent a very strong message that they mean business. Even if only the assets in Brooklyn are involved it still has to sting. And I also agree with Quendi that there are friends of the court that very well may come out in support of the verdict and have their say. I sure am!!!

Watchtower's Billion Dollars of Property Cannot Be Sold until Outcome of Conti Appeal
by Dogpatch in30 minutes ago i just got off the phone with some important players in this case, and some things were relayed to me concerning a lot of details of the outcome of the last two days of court.
i am passing this on.
cynthia hampton, one of the main players in the candace conti case (and a close friend of 28 years), just informed me of a further, far more powerful move by the state of california against the watch tower bible and tract society of new york, inc.. by order of the superior court of the state of california - county of alameda (see documents below), until the watch tower's appeal, which won't begin until august 13th and will take up to two years to settle due to due process of law, has forbidden the watch tower to sell any more of its $1 billion in assets in the borough of brooklyn until the appeals case is finished, to assure they won't shelter their monies in the light of this most huge and devastating sexual abuse scandal ever to hit the watch tower society, and perhaps any other single-victim lawsuit.

Quendi: I agree. The Internet is the JW's worst enemy. It is a place that those wanting information can visit with out being found out. Sites like this allow questions to be asked and answered with out being detected. Knowlege is power and a voice heard is liberating. There will be a spin as to who or what is to blame. The molestation will be discounted or down right denied, and the Society will be the victim.
I know personally of 5 girls beginning at age 5 up to 27 who have been molested, raped,fondled, and verbally advanced upon sexually within the cong. I was one of those. Yet nothing was ever done about it. The code of silence has been in place for a long time but hopefully this incident will open the doors to the truth as it really is.

Strymeckirules: You are dead on. As if this was any surprise that the ORG would throw this guy under the bus. Fact remains the ORG adoped a policy of silence which makes them liable. If they had not done so we all wouldn't be here now would we. I know that at some point I will run into someone from the Dubs and I fully intent to bring this up. Just dying to see what they say.

" but since it occurred in a different congregation and he was already punished, there is little they can currently do.. wow, imagine the buzz in the kh when the info started leaking out.

Yes; There is a guy here in Colorado who was tried , sentenced and DF'd for a period of time that is going in the D to D service. Now wouldn't you just want to be the HH with a 9 year old who answers the door with him behind it. Or how about the elder in Montana who raped and got his bio daughter pregnant who although DF'd for a time is now back in and is a servant. Or the DO who assulted a teenage pioneer sister in Colorado and was simply moved to another assignment in another state. And they bad mouth the Catholic Church. I am soooooo glad to be away from that sick sick trap.

Thanks for the update I bet McCabe was stunned. You bet your boots this is a whole new world for the boy. Mr Simons and Ms. Conti should be applauded for their courage and conviction. My only hope that this will open doors for other who have been dismissed regarding these sick crimes. There are some many that I know of and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

That is good news. Then the damages will be real and not punitive which removes the subjective side of things. Now does anyone know just how the ORG holds the Real Property? That is a huge deal.

Kahlua: Kendrick is in no position to pay 60% of what is in my cat litter box . The society could fall back on insurance from the KH but bet your butt there isn't an underwriter that will ever write them again. The ORG will attempt to throw Kendrick under the bus, and they will plea poverty since they are tax exempt and a religious entity. Their assets in New York etc. will be tough to touch because if they are smart( and they are when it comes to money) have the real estate set up in some kind of trust or whatever in the event that this very thing would take place. The BOE are broke I am sure and the Gov Bod has no personal assets. Now having said that, this is not a lost cause. It will take some digging by a very good lawfirm but the high courts could rule that assets from the ORG are not exempt. However in the case of the Catholic Church that has more money than God, their assets were protected. The Church offered settlements to shut up the victums all of which were silent settlements. The ORG will try to do that and may get the job done. Here comes such issues as gag orders. Will a gag be put in place? If so will the settlement be public knowledge? I doubt it. Please also understand that the ORG can and most likely drum up a line of BS to cover their ass. As to punitive damage that is a sticky wickit. That falls in to PRECEIVED damage. It is subjective and is up for much deliberation. The victory here has less to do with money and more to do with exposure. The ORG has gone on for years with a smoke screen and now what is the main issue in the case is that a US court has acknowledged the wrong and has set forth a penalty. Wheather there is any finance payout is second place to the accountability of those involved.
