'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??

at one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.

however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.

i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

Every hear the one about a Kid skipping a evening meeting playing sick - and instead went out (to do something unchristian of course) and then getting into a car accident.

He hit his parents car - and depending on who tells it - the kid dies - or the parents do.

See you should always go to meetings.

MY "Experience" BS Detector woke up before I did.

I know of MANY assembly and yearbook experiences that were ALL BS.

I even experienced it myself.

I have given many District Assembly Talks, and my last one had an interview about "coming into the truth" (i cringe using that word.

So I had someone I studied with who had a "great" experience that fit perfectly into the instructions.

I had to send the CO the experience as it would be spoken for pre approval. (there was a rehearsal snafu).

The CO called me up and ordered me to make changes to this person's REAL experience.

He wanted things cut out and things added, and I was told, this is the way it needs to be.

The "brother" was so saddened when I told him. I let him know if he didnt want to do it, it was fine with me.

He wound up doing up, but on Stage with 4K people watching, he was as animated and excited as a stalk of celery. And I didnt blame him one bit.

Not training speakers/teachers any more?

not having attended any meetings since about 2001, for reasons of safety (sounds a bit dramatic but i don't like my wife being out on her own late at night where we live now), i have started accompanying her to the mid-week meeting.. when i was young, the ministry school and service meeting were central to training brothers to take the lead.

you were assigned instruction talks, then if you cut it, you moved pretty rapidly to public talks - a full 55 mins at the time.

i was just 18 years old when i gave my first public talk and this was a first step to moving rapidly through the ranks.

Iownmylife - that was not the experience in any hall I went to.

Sisters did the bulk of the answering.

Elders would always be talking about how to get brothers to answer more, including Elders.

The sisters walk a fine line between getting in trouble for not answering enough, or at all, and getting in trouble for answering too much.

Yes its over a long time ago.

It started with ending the Bookstudy at homes, which was a major way you got MSs to start learning.

Then the Instruction talk was cut out, big blow to having a chance to learn how to speak publicly, and to teach.

Then the Public talk was cut from 1hr to 30 min, which was VERY good since 90% of speakers made you want to stick a fork in your eye. But again LESS TEACHING.

Then the School getting cut.

All meetings basically being VIDEOS.

ITS ALL ABOUT INDOCTRINATION AND KEEPING PEOPLE FROM THINKING AND DOING RESEARCH.

When Elders have most teaching time taken away.

When Service is more about showing videos.

When standing at a Cart for hours is touted as effective ministry.

And when you declare 105 years of kingdom activity.

That's when people are like, ok, I would rather go watch TV.

Well - millions have been ensnared and given up normal lives.

Millions have had shitty sex lives full of guilt and frustration.

Millions have married someone out of desperation for sex, or because the pool to choose from was "their congregation", thus being STUCK with the wrong person.

Millions taken up shitty low paying jobs instead of having fulfilling careers.

Millions have substituted fake conditional friendships instead of having life long real friends.

Millions have lost family because they were unbelievers.

Millions have given their money to an evil organization.

To many have died at the hands of governments who just wanted them to have a piece of paper.

To many have died because of not taking normal medical help.

SO LOTS HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED!
