  ok, to start, i no longer believe the scriptures are inspired.

  may be some writers were influenced but that does not mean all what they wrote was correct.

  The last 100 years have been the BEST for homosapians EVER EVER EVER!

  Not training speakers/teachers any more?

  not having attended any meetings since about 2001, for reasons of safety (sounds a bit dramatic but i don't like my wife being out on her own late at night where we live now), i have started accompanying her to the mid-week meeting.. when i was young, the ministry school and service meeting were central to training brothers to take the lead.

  you were assigned instruction talks, then if you cut it, you moved pretty rapidly to public talks - a full 55 mins at the time.

  i was just 18 years old when i gave my first public talk and this was a first step to moving rapidly through the ranks.

  Yes its over a long time ago.

  It started with ending the Bookstudy at homes, which was a major way you got MSs to start learning.

  Then the Instruction talk was cut out, big blow to having a chance to learn how to speak publicly, and to teach.

  Then the Public talk was cut from 1hr to 30 min, which was VERY good since 90% of speakers made you want to stick a fork in your eye. But again LESS TEACHING.

  Then the School getting cut.

  All meetings basically being VIDEOS.

  ITS ALL ABOUT INDOCTRINATION AND KEEPING PEOPLE FROM THINKING AND DOING RESEARCH.

  i hear rumbling about the rank and file not having the same zeal they had when new.. lets see: door to door at the time least likely to find someone.

  waste of a whole morning.

  I watched my zeal waver and dwindle away into inactivity and atheism...I was praised for my zeal,enthusiasm and public speaking LOL

  When Elders have most teaching time taken away.

  When Service is more about showing videos.

  When standing at a Cart for hours is touted as effective ministry.

  And when you declare 105 years of kingdom activity.

  That's when people are like, ok, I would rather go watch TV.

  Well - millions have been ensnared and given up normal lives.

  Millions have had shitty sex lives full of guilt and frustration.

  Millions have married someone out of desperation for sex, or because the pool to choose from was "their congregation", thus being STUCK with the wrong person.

  Millions taken up shitty low paying jobs instead of having fulfilling careers.

  Millions have substituted fake conditional friendships instead of having life long real friends.

  Millions have lost family because they were unbelievers.

  Millions have given their money to an evil organization.

  To many have died at the hands of governments who just wanted them to have a piece of paper.

  To many have died because of not taking normal medical help.

  SO LOTS HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED!

  "Get Over It!"

  this is what my children tell me... get over the whole jehovah's witness thing!

  yes, they tell me they have gotten over the whole thing and they tell me that and i need to also.

  my exgirl friend who was raised as a jw also has said the same thing.. my children say they got over it, however they are quick to point out how messed up their lives are now because of no college education and other missed opportunities.

  as jehovah’s witnesses, we were regularly told how awful a college education is.

  i’m no longer associated with the religion but i am not so pro university.

  it’s not because i think you are better off without a degree.

  I am so career limited because I did not get a degree. I can't get hired for what I should be at this age for my line of work.

  And I have to admit - rightfully so.

  Not having a degree, also meant that I was not able to climb the ladder in my profession the way it should be.

  I always relied on "someone knowing me", or a contact, or really just going it alone.

  I went to county college, but got so much pressure to leave, I never finished the first semester.

  I wish I did.

  I find it interesting ,that those who characterise higher education negativity, for the most part have not attended university.

  I find it quite predictable really.
