every once in a while i hear people purposely make fun of jws, calling them hovas, jeehoovers, etc.

i don't think that's a good way to reach them..

I was a born-in zombie once, thinking I was better than all the bird food scum who wouldnt listen to Jeh.

I love being the non-judgemental, relaxed and more humble person I am now.

It is normal behaviour for them to mock other religious groups, its a hilarious coincidence that they are no different to the ones they mock.

In a way we are just laughing at the person we once were.... I know I am anyway.

Life is too short to be serious about everything.

Oh and I love Wizzy he is an awesome poster, I love his bizzarity lol.

well... as they say on talk back radio "i'm a long time listener, first time caller"(poster in this case!).

i have been a "lurker" for several years, but never had the courage to take the step and join up...until now.. i really want to thank everyone for their insights and comments throughout the forum.

although i have not contibuted to discussions, i have benefitted very much from all of your comments and observations on all topics.

hello jwn!

i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.

i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

as a little background - i was born-in to being a witness, back in '79, in detroit, in mostly black and poor congregations.

baptized when 10-ish, stayed around, was on the fast track to ms, but faded when i moved out at 24ish.. there was a combination of a few things that got me on the road to "freedom" from the cognitive dissonance that kept me "in the truth" for so long.

the main thing was, being an artist and studying marketing, my thinking was patterned to constantly question if i was doing something "correctly," as constant improvement and questioning is what facilitates artistic and mental growth.

So true Splash, they are asking for more 'real estate' and 'pedophile defence' funds at every opportunity.

Not once have they ever used them funds to help a person in any physical/material way, no matter how needy.

In fact in third world countries they should be stressing the need to put all money those people have into taking care of their own family.

God can take care of his own financial needs.

Im so impressed at your foresight and wisdom to not follow the rest of the sheep at a young age.

You will be a wonderful success in life and you have yourself to thank.

You should be so proud right now of your strength too. I can only imagine the stress and strain being put upon you, your family and relationships with those you may have known your whole life.

Im sorry you have to go through so much but an amazing new life awaits you!!

There are some really wise, well lived people on this forum that will be only too happy to offer you advice if you need it, either publically or by PM. Anytime day or night you need help please yell out and there will be lots of advice and ideas for you.
