  It's sad to see the R&F suffering for their personal faithfulness to a doctrine and actions they are forced to adhere to, when the leaders who demand this level of faithfulness would sing like a canary if they were subjected to the same treatment. Remember Erich Frost handing over the names of his fellow JWs to the Gestapo, even without being tortured? Then, in the 50s, he gets to share the convention stage with Knorr.

  Imagine your favourite GB member being subjected to what the current Russian JWs are going through. Do you think that they might fold like a seven high poker hand*?

  *I'm not saying most of us wouldn't. Just that the GB have a bunker to hide in, currently protected from persecution by the freedoms afforded them by a government they despise. It must be comforting to know that you are safe from the consequences of rules you impose on others.

  Is the book an actual German edition? If so, how the heck did they get it into Germany (1942, remember?). Or is it an English language edition that happens to be owned by someone who posted about it in German?

  what determines that?.

  It's still number 3 on my tablet's google search. JW.ORGy is still number one.

  I just realised as I was writing this, that my saved search is "Jehovah's Witnesses online"*, so that may have something to do with it. I tried that on Bing on my PC and got page after page of official WT pages. I had to use "Jehovah's Witnesses discussion". At least this is number one when searching that way.

  * Why keep doing it this way? I guess I got used to it 🥴

  "It will bring people in..."

  Really? Film and television as media are dying in their own right. Furiosa and The Fall Guy are reputedly not particularly bad films, but bombed at the cinema. Dr Who and The Acolyte are failing dismally to attract audiences, despite those franchises previously having huge fanbases. Simply making a film or a TV episode is not going to draw crowds.

  "Build it and they will come" isn't working for mainstream media. Why would it work for the JWs?

  When JW.org drops 607BCE...

  probably everyone else thought of this long ago, but i, being an "independent thunker" thunk of it just a coupla weeks ago.. we all know that since the year zero (on the fredfranzian calendar) the wtb&ts has defied archaeology and insisted that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, even though the physical evidence shows that 587 bce is a more likely date.

  in fact, the book "the gentile times reconsidered: have jehovah's witnesses been wrong all along about 607 bce?

  Kingdom hall cleaning

  what are your memories of hall cleaning?.

  i actually enjoyed it on the whole, my dad as the elder always tried to keep it to under one hour but in my later years in a hard-line congregation it was a chore.

  the po's wife had a printed list and we had to complete it all before left (or got disapproving looks if we left after an hour).. as well as vacuuming the whole building the lost said you had to dismantle the vacuum and clean and polish all the internal elements.

  the trinity doctrine says god is three persons in one being.. yet the bible says god is one.. gal 3.20 a mediator, however, implies more than one party; but god is one.

  While it is good to see that the WT seems to have discovered Jesus, I bet the question of most on here would be something like: "What's the ulterior motive?"

  One possibility I see is that any emphasis on Jesus will soon be directed to the GB, Jesus' brothers*, the present and future kings of the JWs.
