  What is Your Favorite WT Lie?

  i would like to start a thread on lies that the watchtower and their reps have told.

  surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.

  my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

  i am not aware of how many of you are familiar with the danish case of a jehovah's witness who was hospitalized after a tragic accident where he fell several floors from a scaffolding where he was working.. the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit and was conscious (albeit somewhat confused) for the first three weeks.

  It makes me feel ill to watch them realise that they need to change, but they implement the tiniest amount of change that they think they can get away with, and then brag about their merciful approach. They wouldn't know mercy if it bit them on the proverbial. Matthew 5:7  “Happy are the merciful, since they will be shown mercy". That verse has proven to be true, since Tony was shown the same amount of mercy as he was willing to give the R&F JWs*.

  * All speculation, of course. The reason for Tony's removal (isn't that use of the word an amusing coincidence? 😂) is the WT's best kept secret. The above paragraph by me is correct, if the maker of the quoted video is correct in his assumptions. It's as good a theory as any.

  I have a real problem with this JW attitude of suing someone who's tried to save your life. Glad to see that the European court somewhat agrees with me.

  "The WTS thinks that you should not sue a JW who defrauds you"

  If JWs really must deal with JW owned businesses, they should cover their butts by only dealing with incorporated entities owned by other JWs, not with the other JWs directly. That way they can say: "I'm not suing Brother Jones, but Brother Jones LLC*!" Even better if you have your own company. Always deal through that, then you have a lawsuit between two companies.

  * In Australia (and I think South Africa), it would be Pty. Ltd. In the UK I believe it would be LTD.

  Tis the season

  seems like i just pop in here every now and then to see what everyone is up to.

  just like the previous years, i check in during the holidays to let everyone know about the annual christmas card exchange.. blondie used to lead this several years ago and i was involved for about 3 to 4 years before it began to fall off.

  for those of you who participated back then, i still have your addresses and have just sent off this year's christmas cards to everyone.

  This board had a lot of social stuff going on in its early days. Apostafests being organised left and right, these secret Santa events and so on. It's kind of sad to see it all fizzle out, but people have moved on, or passed away, and those who might make up the new blood can find plenty of info and support elsewhere.

  That doesn't diminish the importance of this board. It is still a helpful tool against the WT* and hopefully will remain so long as Simon has the patience to maintain it. 🙏🤞

  when i was in the org it seemed most brothers were very much into football and other sports.

  which looking back makes no sense and makes me wonder why?

  it felt like an overcompensating to be masculine.. shouldn't football be deemed unchristian?

  Sacred Days

  yesterday was remembrance day/veterans days in canada.

  we had a couple younger half wits in the cong in field service yesterday.

  both are trying to climb the ladder with the entire elder body ready to die in the next 10 years.. i just of thought it was a dick move to go door to door about the merits of fighting for freedom or not fighting on such a sacred day.

  Riley, you reminded me of a quote often attributed either to Churchill or Orwell: "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

  JWs can conduct their business safely in societies where peace has been won by the military and police forces, but they are forbidden to join either one to contribute towards that safety.
