a pet peeve of mine
by enoughisenough inputting this under "friends" because i couldn't figure out where to put it.
it is very often on here and in ex jw videos, ect that people like to undermine some of those who once we would have called friends.
there seems to be a view that window washers, plumbers, cleaners, construction workers are somehow less intelligent than those who may be college educated.

JW Businessmen
by NotFormer ini was never a jw, but came across a few in my travels.
one jw businessman i dealt with seemed to be honest, trustworthy and reputable ππ.
another i knew was the kind of bloke who, if he told me that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, i'd watch sunrise and sunset just to make sure.

What was your experience of JWs in business? Examples of Christian conduct? Thieves and charlatans? Mixes of good and bad, like any group of fellow human beings? Any examples worthy of repetition here?

Somebody in the Organisation is channeling "Sweet Charity"! π± A pity that video clip wasn't choreographed by Bob Fosse; it might not be so cringeworthy.
I recall a theory that someone in the art department was slipping subliminal images into WT material as some sort of statement against the organisation.
This cart video is so lame that my first reaction was that this is someone taking the piss. It can't possibly be real! If it is, then someone in the PR department of the Watchtower is deliberately doing this to make it look idiotic!

Thanks ππΊ
The reference is to a book entitled "You can Live Forever on a Paradise Earth" (I think) A mate of mine told me that a JW neighbour of his referred to that book as "The Red Rocket". π Apparently they thought it was their finest work at the time. πππ
Does anyone remember that book?

Jws getting drunk
by Farmer Jim1 inhas anyone got any good 'jws and alcohol' stories?
i always found it amazing that so many jws got blind drunk at parties and got away with it!
i suppose alcohol was the only fun thing we were allowed to partake in....

Out of curiosity, how quickly could someone who is new in the faith become a JW elder? The Bible says not to quickly elevate a new person in the faith into leadership. Could a talented, enthusiastic newbie be fast tracked?
And of course there is Simony: can a person who is generous with his wealth in all the right ways simply buy his way into an eldership? WT actually did an article on Simony, saying that "real Christians don't", which meant that exactly that was happening in some congregations. Does it still happen?
