Let's hope that the JWs who begin tithing remember that the old testament tithe was never in money, but was in crops and livestock! I want to see how the WT handles the wheat and cattle being left on Kingdom Hall doorsteps.

Even Fisherman sounds like he has doubts, that the JW religion is basically right, but that its leadership is somewhat letting it down. I haven't seen scholar around on recent threads.

It sounds like yet another class, Blondie. But from the discussion above and what you've said, the term must have died out soon after the 1962 article.
Is it another buzzword that died out because it sounds odd in ordinary conversation? It seems like there's a lot of those. "Worldling" is the one that comes immediately to my mind.

RonW "I felt VERY unhappy about it so forged the amount I proposed to contribute"
What do you mean that you forged the amount? That you just wrote a figure that you didn't intend to donate?

I'm sorry if my post came across as though I was trying to blame the victims. I'm as horrified by their suffering as anyone else.
What is happening to the perpetrator? When is his trial?

I just found this old thread. If no-one said it, I think that the Christadelphians refer to their beliefs as "the Truth".
But the real reason I brought this BTTT is to ask about JW apologists like yadirf. What happened to them? Are there no JWs convinced enough of their rightness that they would come to this board to let the apostates have it?
There are a few here who still have some sympathy for some WT doctrine, but think that the society or the GB is corrupt; they're not of the same ilk as yadirf and people like him from the early years of this discussion board. Has the enthusiasm for WT apologetics dried up?

I thought as much; I can't see any government providing such a large and exploitable loophole! 😱
Were these "conditional donations" a loan for a purpose, when they've got some project on?

Blondie: "...conditional donation arrangement (donor can ask for it back)...It was timed for November, so jws would be encouraged to give in time for claiming for tax purposes that year".
Was this an outright tax rort? That a sum could be donated and a tax deduction claimed, and then the WT paid it back as though it were a loan?

Okay, maybe saying "the organisation" here is a bit strong. It was a table full of JWs.
Can anyone here verify that such a scene is possible? Were groups of JWs on social outings likely to have behaved in this manner, in the experience of people here?
