The first rule of beard club...
by GrreatTeacher in...is you don't start growing a beard in the spring!
you start growing it in the fall, keep your chin warm in the winter, and then shave it off for warm weather.
at least that's how it works in my household and in the northern hemisphere where the gb are.. i have the sneaking suspicion that there is going to be a steep learning curve for many.. will they know to trim it along their jawbone properly?

Article-New Zealand: JW's Church takes case over Abuse in Care ruling to Court of Appeal
by AndersonsInfo inhttps://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/512321/jehovah-s-witness-church-takes-case-over-abuse-in-care-ruling-to-court-of-appeal?fbclid=iwar0ipoxydannpkym0rbwj-0ffxcmauhknchpvhql2l0azq4-garjfiihsqa.
the court of appeal has reserved its decision in the jehovah's witness church's case challenging the abuse in care inquiry.. in wellington on thursday the church appealed a high court ruling that dismissed its claim to be excluded from the investigation.. the public gallery was packed with members of the church and abuse survivors.. lawyer sarah jerebine began the appeal by challenging the royal commission's decision to extend the inquiry's scope from institutional care to trust-based relationships between authority figures and children.. "it becomes a person with authority, not authority to care but just authority, can assume responsibility for a trust-based relationship.
we say that is something quite different to what was intended and understood by what this commission would be looking at.".

They play stupid games and they may end up winning stupid prizes. Even if they get off on the "in care" technicality, what's to stop Parliament from deciding to broaden the scope of the inquiry*? Another legal precedent brought on by themselves.
*Or announcing a special enquiry, all for them?

the toll of being PIMO
by enoughisenough infor those of you who are pimo, how do you feel it may be effecting your mental and physical health?
is it easy to pretend to be what you are not?
how do you feel about falsely supporting the pimi which builds them up and therefore an org you don't believe in?

"You can basically do whatever you want. Sex, blood, smoking, drugs, rock and roll."
I think you're stretching things a bit here. Even if they are relatively lenient the first time, habitual exercise of those things are going to demonstrate that the person doing them isn't taking anything very seriously, as would probably be the judgement of someone not in the organisation. I don't see it as the organisation's version of cheap grace.

"Put Faith in a Victorious Organization" WT 3/1/79
by WingCommander inthe concept of "the organization" is not new in jw-land.
it's been around since rutherford's time.
ray franz is quoted as saying in the first jw expose documentary entitled "witnesses of jehovah" in 1986: .

The mental gymnastics they go through to come to such a conclusion must be torturous.
And they blatantly say that your trust should be in men.

Surely* the first rule of beard club is to say that you were going to grow a beard all along and this is not a reaction to anything and that nothing has changed at all?
* I'll try not to call you Shirley in the future

StephaneLaliberte: "Appeal committee: If a wrongdoer demonstrates that he is repentant by the time he meets the appeal committee, he will not be disfellowshipped"
Is there an objective criterion for demonstration of repentance? Or does everything still revolve around the subjective opinions and biases of the elders, JCs and appeal committees?
Have JCs and appeal committees been ordered to be more lenient?

Beards vs. Shunning announcements
by slimboyfat induring lett’s announcement that beards are now allowed he elaborated at some length how brothers ought to feel and react to the change in policy.
he warned brothers not to resent not being able to grow beards earlier if they had wished to do so.
he also warned brothers who supported the old policy not to allow themselves to wonder what the point of doing so was now that it has changed.

'And for the future, if changes to birthdays and Christmas becomes a reality, you can guarantee, their immediate and wholehearted adoption into the JW lifestyle, too ... purely on the basis that "we can"'
I'm intrigued by the thought of a JW appropriate Christmas celebration. Will the baubles on the Christmas tree 🎄 have the JW.org logo on them? 🤔

June 2024 WT: Don't talk about Anthony Morris
by neat blue dog inthe latest study edition mentions hypothetical scenarios of jws who are no longer serving at bethel or no longer elders, etc.
and says we shouldn't speculate, as defaming them could border on slander.. we could unintentionally defame someone by spreading negative information.
..... would it be proper to speculate on the reasons why these adjustments were made and to share that opinion with others?.

That would suggest that there is a lot of speculation, etc. going on in JW circles that is getting back to the GB, enough that they feel the need to address it. Plenty of speculation about it going on here, but this is hardly their target audience.
Is there a lot of chat in Kingdom Halls about Tony?
jehovaxx is right: if they don't want speculation to fill the vacuum left by their lack of information, they should tell the truth. They've been so used to not telling the truth when a lie or half-truth will do, that I doubt truth-telling comes naturally to them.

Scully: "I wonder how many JWs who have been shunning DFd and DAd family members and friends for years are going to feel reluctant about reaching out to touch base with those folks, and what their reaction will be when those family members and friends tell them to pound sand?
"Honestly how does one approach that?
"Hey! Long time no chat! We just got New Light™ that we can talk to you again... isn't that great?"
"*click*
"hello? hello?"
"*crickets*"
The question to ask is "Did you know that what you were doing was wrong before or after the GB told you it was?"
