Lithuania Set to Mirror Norway's Approach on Jehovah's Witnesses
by raymond frantz init is proposed to the seimas not to grant state recognition to the religious community of jehovah's witnesses.
lithuania05/05/2024 09:30. jehovah's witnesses; baptism associative / e. ovcharenko / bns photo.. it is proposed to the seimas to refuse to grant state recognition to the lithuanian jehovah's witnesses religious community.. community representatives told bns that they hope that parliamentarians, taking into account the practice of the european court of human rights, will make a different decision.. the draft resolution registered by the chairman of the human rights committee of the seimas, tomas vytautas raskevičius, states that this community does not meet the requirements of the constitution and the law, that its education and rites do not conflict with laws and decency.. "the ministry of justice has determined that the religious teaching of this community is possibly not compatible with the constitution of our country in two aspects.
the first is that jehovah's witnesses oppose blood transfusions due to certain aspects related to health care (...).

It'd be nice to see more governments showing an interest in the areas where the WT fails. A united front on CSA, shunning of minors and the blood issue might finally persuade the GB to pull its head in. Lithuania seems interested in the military service issue; not all countries have that.
People occasionally say that blood isn't really a problem anymore, that it's more of a conscience issue. I'll believe that when they disband the HLCs.

Disaster preparedness
by ElderBerry inas your family considers its disaster preparedness plan, please ensure that the secretary has up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contact.
also, we have re- peatedly seen good results when brothers and sisters are prepared with go bags and are ready to obey direction when they face various kinds of disasters.
please be sure you have a go bag, and review its contents at least once a year.

I noticed the UK announcement in my feed yesterday. Are they expecting any trouble that's out of the the ordinary?

Where is Tony?
by Athanasius inon february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

"Funny…
"…the way I’d heard it, Ol’ Freddy spent his twilight years aimlessly shuffling around Bethel dressed in Herb Tarleck’s hand-me-downs, and muttering to his shoes."
This gives me "Young Mr Grace" vibes. Fred Franz: "You've all done very well!"

102 year old mantra by JW's
by BoogerMan inwatchtower november 1, 1922: cedar point, ohio - "monday was “ service day,” and on tuesday morning several hundred automobiles, each car loaded with workers and books, canvassed the northern part of ohio.
a report of this appears herein.
on tuesday evening following this canvass a testimony meeting was held, and every one present agreed that it was the most wonderful, heart-inspiring testimony meeting he had ever attended.".

"...and every one present agreed that it was the most wonderful, heart-inspiring testimony meeting he had ever attended"
Have we got any recent WT meeting wrap ups in the same vein? I'm interested to know how the verbiage has changed after a century.

Constant Pleas For Money
by NotFormer init comes up from time to time: that the wt's "constant pleas for money" signifies their precarious financial state due to the pressure of the csa settlements.
is there any way of demonstrating that to be a fact?
i ask because i've always been under the impression that "constant pleas for money" is the default state of the organisation, possibly going back to rutherford's time.

Does anyone who still attends a Kingdom Hall feel that the "constant pleas for money" are more noticeable now than twenty, thirty or forty years ago?

On May 3, 2024, the worldwide United Methodist Church apologized to survivors of clergy sexual abuse.
by was a new boy in'many survivors of clergy sexual abuse have never received an apology or any acknowledgement of the harm they suffered.

“the united methodist church apologizes for the times we allowed our desire to protect the church to outweigh our desire to care for victims and survivors of sexual misconduct.

TonusOH: "They need to stop protecting people who do something that you know is wrong and evil."
I suppose that their supreme moral law is that the only thing that is wrong and evil is making the GB look bad. This was never about protection of and justice for the vulnerable.

A fun moment
by Vidiot inmy wife of many years is more-or-less pomo, but she still (nominally) believes in jehovah and the bible.. she raised her eyebrows when she realized the full scope of the csa problem… rolled her eyes when letto the clown called babies “little enemies of god”… but today, we apparently crossed a real threshold….
…her response to the governing body being referred to as “our future kings” was….
…“what????!!!!!”.

"There is something going on with those guys"
The echo chamber. These guys' jokes are never run past critical thinkers who aren't part of their in crowd, so they're never shown how off they actually sound to real people.

"our future kings”
Are you yanking my chain, or is this real? 🤔😱 Full quote and source please!
BTW, I'm on the same page as your wife. Should a JW venture back to my door, I'm torn between giving them both barrels over this, or shaking my head pityingly while silently closing the door on them*.
If the GB is now a monarchy, who will be the WT's Cromwell?
*Probably the latter. It's not their fault that their leaders are tone-deaf idiots. 🙄
