  Mormons and Ten Speed Bicycles.

  the other day my work partner and i were driving back to the shop after finishing working and it was hotter than hell.

  we see these two mormon boys doing their thing on their 10 speeds with their typical white shirts on.

  they had helmets on too.. my friend says..."why in the hell don't they use cars?

  finally, the dubs pried themselves away from the coffee shop this morning and 'worked' my neighborhood.

  i saw them coming so i had to decide what topic to discuss.

  well after the intro, i decided to explain, that yes i have read the bible, and i feel the god portrayed in it is very brutal and cruel to his creation.

  She asked why and I told her I felt that God's instruction to attack the Caananites was due to a promis he made to Abraham over Real estate. What did the Caananites do to them? She explained that when people do not follow god and worship Pagan Gods, Jah punishes them. I replied, but that's not why the Bible says they should be killed. The Caananites were attacked because of a promise (unbeknown to them), not because they disobeyed.

  Inappropriate "shepherding" calls.

  how many have recieved calls by the elders that were under the guise of "shepherding", but somehow inappropriate, i.e, you were a woman alone with only one elder showing up, or you felt physically intimidated by both.

  or say they show up at like, 10:30 at night for a shepherding call.

  and you say "hey, i appreciate the visit but please call first!

  why do people get disfellowshipped.

  i mean, when i met with the elders and told them i had gone to key west and done the homo thing, they said, well if you don't do it again we won't df you.

  well the truth was, i just didn't want to be a jehovah's witness any more, so i said, well i'll be doing it again i reckon.. isn't this true of most people who get df'ed.

  The brothers felt I should be aware of this, as my daughter's having such literature in my home could leave me vunerable to demonic attack! and that because of her age it wasn't to late to change her (I guess they feel you choose your sexual orientation instead of being born to it) I calmly explained that I purchase and/or pay for all of my daughter's books of Wicca, homosexuality and anything else she might choose to read and that she was only repeating what she had heard at home.

  Soooo, I guess I have not really faded quietly and will probably be hearing from the JC .....I don't think I'll be going to any meetins with them...I'll just let them DF me by proxy.

  Sheese Preston! I don't think I have movie class hun, I ain't heard of many of those movies, and uhm don't feel the urge to 'splain any of them if they have beyond the normal use for food in them, I remember all to well one of your explainations about food items.

  Erm....too be fair I watch a lot of movies not necessarily for the entertainment value but because they add something spiritual or aesthetic. However Andrei Rublev is the only film on this list which shouldnt be watched to be entertained, its the best film ever made that explains artistry. 2001 is an excellent summation of our whole human experience, Hediwg is just a fun movie to watch and the best musical I've ever seen, Once Upon a Time in the West is a beautiful soap opera elegy, Mulholland Drive is a beautiful dream film, The Godfather is a well constructed Shakesperean drama, Miller's Crossing is is the best example of violent film noir made years after the golden age of cinema, Sansho the Baliff is a very entertaining story meant to be seen by everyone who likes anything movie-wise, and Fanny and Alexander combines the best qualities of film-making. The movies I listed are IMNSHO the best movies ever made.

  I also admire L'Atalante, A Man Escaped, Distant Voiced Still Lives,and anything with Barbara Stanwyck or James Cagney.
