i am not religious but open minded.
when i first saw the truman show, i was struck by it's deeper under tones and the philosophical questions it raises.

SUICIDE IN KH PARKING LOT
by Sabine inlast saturday, a former ministerial servant and pioneer committed suicide in the woodinville washington kingdom hall parking lot.
he was disfellowshipped several years ago, and according to the old sister that related the story to me today, he was depressed because no one would talk to him.
i don't know how i kept calm when she explained to me that "we couldn't talk to him...he was disfellowshipped.".

Surviving the Hearing to DF Me.
by Sentinel ini must say that reading all these posts have really brought back so many memories for me.
i had a terrible experience at my hearing, which i believe now, really bordered on sexual abuse of the mental kind.. our congregation was small.
this was difficult for the few young people that attended.

Hi Sentinel,
If it gives you any degree of comfort, every time I read stories like yours, it only reinforces my decision never to go back to the congregation as long as I lived. I consider the elder's form of interrogation of form of emotional violation. Not one person should have to go through what you have, and what they did was sick and wrong. What a bunch of sick bastards....

I had a circuit overseer who loved to say that God didn't like football (American, that is, not Soccer), and admonished the brothers and sisters not to watch it. I wonder how long a circuit overseer like that would survive in an english congregation telling the Brothers and Sisters not to watch Football (British, that is). For my money, he would be apprehended and thrown out into the street...Good....(Insert devilish grin for I forgot how to add the emotion).

JW's in hell?
by Preston inwhat do you think, if there is a hell, do you think jw's are going.
i know (because of my lifestyle) if there is a hell i have a good chance of going, although the idea of spending an eternity with god's supposed people doesn't sound too thrilling, in which case i better practice a life of celibacy.
i don't know what brought this post up, my friend just played me a clip from a south park episode where all the devout chrisitians go to hell, including jehovah's witnesses, and all the good mormons get spared (kinda funny in a strange sort of way).

So, tell me, will the way of long boring district conventions, countless hours in the ministry, and the emphasis on meeting attendance come down to this. BTW, I would especially love to hear the opinions of devout Christians.....

Anybody see the July 1 2002 WT?
by Lieu inif anyone has read the study articles...exactly what did you think?
my take on the matter: all of the "great crowd of other sheep" are now being equated to the 'foreigners' of isaiah's prophesy.the 'gb' now thinks they are actually zion instead of being sons of zion which explains their thinking they are the "mother" and not the sons.but they are also the sons of zion....or earthly sons...but also zion...but wtf?if the gb are = to zion which is = to jah's woman, then they actually think they are = to jah...and are not the bride of christ (son) but have the audacity to think they could be the bride of jah (father).a reiteration of the 1919 stupid thing runs rampant throughout the article....can't we just stop with the dates fellas?!!
!they think they (gb) have been repurchased by jah .... not by christ and his blood who is supposed to be thier husbandly ownerthey try and rationalise why the congregational election of elders stopped...instead of telling the truth of why it stopped.. i have come to the conclusion that the gb does not acknowledge anything christ did, nor the fact that the 'annointed' are suposed to make up the 'bride of christ'.

Genesis...contradictory?

I read in one of Stephen Jay Gould's last interviews that he found some inconsistencies between Ge. ch. 1 and Ge. ch. 2.
Most people seem not to realize that the story of Genesis is so contradictory
"It's remarkable. We love the story of Eve made out of Adam's rib. And we forget that in Genesis 1, Adam and Eve are made simultaneously from the dust of the earth. Genesis 1 is the usual story we tell, with the animals of the air and seas appearing on the fifth day, and then the land animals, culminating in humans on the sixth, and then the great rest on the seventh. But Genesis 2 is entirely different. Adam is created first and is lonely. God creates the Garden of Eden with the four rivers flowing out. He's still lonely. So God creates the animals and brings them to Adam to be named. And he's still lonely. So then God makes Eve out of Adam's rib. if you pick people on the street, 9 out of 10 would tell the story of Genesis 1 but include the Adam's rib bit. They're different stories. i don't see any way of claiming that the Bible is literally true. it opens with massive contradiction."
Does anyone know what he's talking about here?
